Miss Keere possesses the original manuscript of this eelebra‘ed comedy, and, as performed by ber company, it had a successful run of over three hundred nighis at her theater in New York. The cast for to-night is a powerfal one, and embraces Mr. Levick, Dirs. Tyrrel and other: Forp’s THEATER.—The new play, “Lady Ysabet, of East Lynne,” has met with extraor- dlinary success at Ford’s, and consequently it -wili be performed to-night again, Mrs. Bowers agaiv assuming the characters of “ Lady Isa- bel” ard « Madame Vine,” which in her hands possess new charms. The wetkness of his position, and his inabitity t> maintain the false assertions made in his oficial capacity as to the leakage of gas, &c., is ac- knowledged by the jact that he has wholly abardoned the questions atissne, and descended (if he can descend) to mere valgar personalities, showing, throughout his whole contemptible « Reply,” the venom of the serpent without its power to injure. My object is not to bandy epithets, but to show that Mr. Shepherd’s as- set tions relative to the Gas Light Company are wholly and malicionsly false, and that Mr. Emmart’s statement (to the effect that «the cecempany bas not repaired one of J. W. Thom 9- son Co’s jobs”) is further from the truth, if possible, than Mr. Shepherd's original decla- rations. I therefore append an official note from the superintendent of the company, who is specially charged with repairing all leaky mains andservices. By keeping men thus employed nearly all the time for the last two- and-a-balf years, I have got their work toler- ably tight, but the largest part of them leak still, (about seven per cent. in all.) and those which give me most trouble are in the mains and ser- vices laid by J.
