It ay Te thatin the late battle of Chanceilorsville twenty-nine North Caroliua regiments were placed in the front to revist Hooker's advance, sustaining immense slaughter, while the South Carolina and Vir- ginia troops were heid in reserve. This mas- sacre of North Carolinians is boldly and freely denoureed, and the Confederacy is charged with gross injustice and bad faith. The nu- merous and studied indignities put upon this State and her people aré keenly resented. In order to secure concert of action, and avoid ell further conflicts of authority, neces- sarily produced by the appointment of 2 eivil- ian, itix propored te make Gen. Wild, of the Afri- can Brigade, Military Governor of North Oar- colina, He possesses administrative abilities of a high order, and as Gen. Foster remarks, “is & gallant, accomplished soldier and gentle- man.” He has already won great popularity in this department. FROM GEN. SPRINGFIELD, ILL., June 1 —The Governor this morning issued an unconstitutional procla- mation proroguing the Legislature until 1465. The republicans left the halls and thereby broke the quorum in each, but the democrats reiused to recognize prorogation and continued the sessions. The Governor's pretext is that there i disigreement between the Houses on the subject of adjournment, but there was no. parliamentary disagreement whatever. The democrats in the afternoon, finding themselves powerless to do any turther business, entered & protest upon the record, reciting the tacts, and arraigning the Governor for his usurpation and unconsiitutional acts, aud imformally left their seats, not recognizing an adjourninent, butarevolutionary breaking up of the Legi lature.
