HEADCCARTERS ARMY or THE POTOXKAC, | ay 28.—The rebel army isevidendy moving <zen. Lee hus issued an order, which was reta to the treops 4 few nights since, congraculating them upon their past achievements, and fore. shadowing a raid inte Maryjant. He wii them that they are to have long and rapid marches throug! 2 country without@ail: and calis upon every man to be‘prepared for the severest hardships. Wonderiul victoi are, of course, promised them, and the over. shrow of eur #rmy predicted as an inevitaple event. { ‘The trains of the enemy have been seen for Baveral days moving from the depot of supplies | below Fredericksburg, and baleen reconnoi: sanees haye discovered 2 large column push- = rapidly im the direction of Cxulpeper. Whether the army intend making @ raid into Maryland, or is endavering to get between Gen. Heoxer’s army and Washington, we are unable todetermine. 4 Every one is on the qui rire, and stirring news may be soon expecied from the Army of the Potomac. Everything remains quiet along the river. A few Additional rifie pits are being thrown up on the eouth bank, but the rebel pickets lounge in the shade as usual, apparently oblitions to all operations ontside of their own sphere. There is evidently some movement in the rebel urmy accross the Rappehannock, but whether it is the commencement of 2 raid into the North, or a mere feint to prevent oursend- ing reinforcements to the West, cannot be as- certained at present. One thing is certain, we have troops enough at all points to oppose any attack the confederacy may see fit to make at any point of our lines. FARMING OPERATIONS.—Our farmers seem to be taking due advantage of the present spell of fine weather, and are busily engaged either in planting their cern, or in preparing land in- tended for this important crop, which has been wouch delayed by the unfavorable spring. Another such week as the present, however, will find the planting pretty well through with, and thus allow attention to he directed toother crops, such as tobacco, potatoes, &c. The seeded oats seem to have come up well, and the wheat and grass present an encouraging appearance. The prospect for an abundant yield of all kinds of fruit is equally promis- ing.— Rockvilie ( Hd.) Sentinel.
