It has been ost successful one, though short, and our piay-goers feel that the uame of Booth is yet to Hold its own on the stage. His closing bill is “The Marble Heart,” the piece which Y uch a hit the first night he appeared. rALIAN OPERA.— Washington Theater was nnd last night, on the occasion of the ap- pearance of the Grau Opera Troupe in «Trov- ator To-night an opportunity is given of witnessing ‘Don Giovann Cordier, Susini, Brignoli and others, appearing. Fair aT RYLAND CHAPEL.—The ladies of Rylard Chapel continue their fair at Potomac Hail, Island, and offer as fine a display of use- ful and ornamental articles as could be desired. The refreshments, too, are most pilatable, and are gracefully dispensed by fair ladies. pian ates Tux Camprete Hosvirar ENTERTAIN- uentTs.— Last evening, another fine entertain- ment took place at Campbell Hospital, which | WAs attended by nearly all the patients and con yalescents quartered here, numbering some 3:0, & number ef soldiers trom neighboring hos- pitals, and quite a number of Indies and gen- Uemen. friends of the patients. Theaffair took | Plsee in a large ward, which has been fitted up with a stage and scenery, and otherwise orna- mented, which is used during the day as a read- ing-room by the patients and for the entertain- ments. The scenery was painted by one of the conyalescents—C. W. Bolza, 6th Michigan. The entertainment was opened by a grand procession of the company. An excellent in- Strumental troupe of six persons, with black taces, next appeared, and with music, songs and witty sayings, foratime entertained the audience, and drew forth much applause. The song, “Katy Dean,” was sung with fine effect by C. E. Peabody, 12'h Mass., and was fol lowed bya jig dance by A.J. Kilburn, U6th N.Y. The redoubtable “bones,” C. H. Seely, 26th N. Y., gave an exhibition of his skill on the rattlers. A. F. Hamilton, of Hawkins’ Zouaves, a clever comedian and musician, played # solo on the cone the house. This part of the performance closed with the “Railroad Smash-up,” which was done up instyle. Prof. Sell (white) followed, giving acapital burlesque on the “dissolving views.” The “Congo Lay,” by C. De Forrest, contract nurse, E.C. Cole, 12th Mass., Seely and Kilburn, something on the order of the Arab Lay, was done up in style, and was re- ceived with shouts of laughter. Mr. Cole ap- peared as a stump orator, and spoke upon the wery-sis.” The evyening’s entertainments con- cluded with the farce of «Box and Vox,” in which Mr. Hamilton appeared as Box, J. ‘Trask, 12th Mass., as Cox, and C. H. Frye, 2ist Mass., as Mrs. Bouncer, the latter character being played with much effect. At present there are about 3(4) patients and conyalescents at this hospital, although there gre accommodations for about750. The patients are treated in such a way as to make them as cheerful and comfortable as possible, these entertainments doing much to thatend. At the entertainment last night, the effect was notonly with those able to be present, but those confined to their beds seemed to be well pleased that their comrades were enjoying themselves. Dr. J. H. Baxter, in charge, and his assistants, Drs. Kelly, Hinkle, Leman, Kemp, True, and Sid- ney, are assiduous in their attentions to the patients. and deserve much credit for the fine order observed, and the excellent condition of the hospital. Dr. F. Hinkle, as treasurer of the hospital, bas received $167.45, as the net proceeds of the exhibition of dissolving views, for the purpose of purchasing a library, given through the exertions of 2 number of ladies, to whom the eurgeons and patients desire to return their thanks. The library will, we understand, be fitted up shortly. eg ANNUAL CONFERED M. E. Curres.— Sizth Day.—The committee on business sub- mitted resolutions, which were adopted. The resolutions express sympathy with every ad- yancemvent of the principles of liberty, whether it be in the disenthrallment of the slaves in the British West Indies, the liberation of the serfs in Russia, the emancipation of slaves in the capital of the nation, the States in rebellion, or the extinction of the entire system in all lands. ‘The resolutions assert that the colored people are loyal, and haye no sympathy with those who are laboring either ‘directly or indirectly for the overthrow of 8 Government whose in- dependence was purchased in part by the blood of our forefathers and sustained by thatot their sons.” associates for their liberty, they nevertheless attribute their disenthrallment to the over- ruling Providence of God. They declare that the 16th of April, 1562, and the Ist of January, W6, are days entitled to the veneration and commemoration of the colored race. While <exsirous that the war should terminate, they will patiently ard prayerfully await the result. ‘They are gratified that the Administration has <letermined to use the negroes as soldiers, and conclude by pledging themselves to use their efforts to induce the colored race to adopt such & course as will commend them to the favorable consideration of the humane and intellizent everywhere. es ‘WE TARE great pleasure in noticing the fol- jowing letter, written by one of Professor Alex. ‘Wolowski's pupils: To the Editor of the Daily and Sunday Morning Chronicle -—Sim: Being desirous ef learning on the pisee by the new method of Prof. Wolow- ki, of music, and I am now on the second half of muy course of instruction, and I must say that in that short time my progress has been wonderful. His method, as well as his way of xpiaining, is so remarkable that it enables the pupilin s very short time to understand the theory of music thoroughly, and what is more, «nables the pupil to read music with the great- ‘et facility ; and as I have derived great benefit trom Prof. Wolowski’s instruction, I would advise all those who would wish to become tine musicians not to loge this oppportunity, as he is about to commence his last course. JOHN ACKER. The residence of Prof. Wolowski is at No. 451 ‘Tenth atreet. SS Cuimim aL CountT—Judge Fisher_—Yesterday, ‘Robert alias All Drury, was found guilty of an aseault on J.F. Winkle, in Georgetown, and sentenced to jail for twenty days and to pay a fine of $1. Mr. NcNair moved an arrest of judgment in | the case of Jos. Johnson, eonvicted of grand darceny, and argued his motion at length. Jomnson was tried and acquitted by reason of @ defective indictment; but a new indictment was found,on which he was conyicted. The court holds the matter under advisement. The jurors were discharged until Tuesday, to which time the court adjourned. ee PRESENTATION.—A. M.
