A gentleman just from Kentucky brings some information of the operations and final repulse of Pegram’s brigade in that State. Oa the 2ith ult., Col. Scott, of the brigade, with four com- panies of hit own regiment and one company ef Arhby’s regiment, in all between four and five hunéred men, chased Col. Fry, ia com- mend of four regiments of infantry and some of Woolford’s cayalry, out of Danville, com- pletely routing them, and capturing Lieut. Col. Adams and other prisoners. While Scott was pursuing the enemy through the streets of aprile. the Yankees shot Mrs. Mitchell, the wile of the President of the Branch Bank of Kentucky, through the head, killing her in- Stantiy, and also a female servant who was atanding behind her. Col. Scott skirmished with the enemy from the 2ith ult. to the 2-th, and then y:as in Houstonville, Lincoln county. During the same time Gen. Pegram was skir- mishing near Hickman's Bridge,on the Ken- tucky river, and dreve the Yankees back. On the 3ist, when two miles beyond Somerset, he was attacked by a large Federal force of cav- al Woolford, and after asevere hand to hand fight of several hours, the Confederates gave up the uneqcal contest, and fell back six miles, the enemy not pursuing. Our loss was heavy; eupposed to have been fifty killed. CONFEDERATE CAVALRY RAID IN GLOUCESTER. {From Richinond Dispatch, April 9.] On the 30th ult. a dash was made by nine of the Cloptor Rangers and three of the Glouces- ter Cavalry on a company of Yankees, stationed at Seawell’s Point, in (Floucester county, Va. The company was composed of forty of 100th California Cayairy. Our men drew them from their position, fired upon them and charged with the sabre.. The enemy fled, leaving two killed and three wounded. One of the killed was 4 Lieutenant. Gur cavalry harass the out- posts of the enemy so much that they are afraid to gogrand rounds withouta very strong force to protect the officer of the day. The Danville cars broughtinto Richmond on the {th 42 Union prisoners of war, captured at Brentwood, Tenn., by Gen. Forrest. Among them were twenty-three com missioned officers. Ali of them are to be exchanged at an early day. On the same day 451 Union prisoners were sent by a flag of truce to City Point to be went North as exchanged. Among them was Lieut. Bloodgood, of 22% Wisconsin, and twenty-one other officers. A majority of the privatrs were those taken at Brent wood, Tenn., by Gen.
