Gronezrown, May 5, 1858. We are credibly informed that an altercation occurred on the waterworks yesterday, which Tesulted in the death of one of the parties. The facts, as we gather them, are as follows: Mr. Allen, of the firm of Allen & Curr, bad dis- charged a hand for same misconduct. The dis- Marie oe individual went into Mr. Allen’s office and demanded a settlement. An altercation oc- curred, and Mr. Allen took up a gun and shot him dead on the spot. Mr. A. immediately sur- rendered bimself to the officers of the law, and was conducted to jail at Rockville, Md. He as- serta that he committed the fatal deed in self-de- fence.
