'BIG EVENT IS ONIN | STEVENS' WINDOW | From the final reports received by the ‘Empire, Minard Mill is still leading the sailboat race on Lake Stevens. In close proces- gion is Sim MacKinnon's Hyak, i Jack Burford’s Donjac and Lisle Hebert. I For mcst of you, the race is just | a few steps away in the window| of Stevens ladies’ shop. On a min- | iature lake, surrounded by grass| jand flowers, four bathitub saflboats are struggling in vain to reach| an imaginary finish line. A small brown bear on the shore watches with envy the numerous plastic fish that populate the lake. Perhaps he is also a bit jealous of the beautiful girl busy landing {one of the colorful fish. l Among the other spectators nrel a girl bedecked in dungarees and a plaid shirt, a frog and some ducks. , The public is cordially invited to iattend the race and to cheer for I'the girl as she lands her prize. The Iflsh is too small to win a derby prize, so fishermen, worry not!.
