Kordash, formerly Miss Grace Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. Nelson, and a graduate of Juneau High School, was a mem- ber of the honor roll at the close of the spring quarter. Men Head West To Open Work On @akwater Seward Project Costing| $50,000 to Be Launched by General Con. Co. A group of ten employees of llm: General Construction Company of| Seattle are heading to Seward to| open construction on a 1,000 foot breakwater near the Seward dock. The men, under the direction of | J. F. Blakemore, Ben and Carl Nel- son, .are forerunners of some 20| {other employees who will be sent to| the Westward by the construction {company to assist in the work. The breakwater, which will have ia base approximately 30 feet long| land a height of approximately 16 |teet, will have a foot and a half up- ward slope to the top, which will be 4 feet in width. It will cost in the neighborhood of $50,000 and will employ 30 men for several months. The breakwater will adjoin the |Seward shore at approximately 1,000 feet from a similar breakwater and iwill jut toward the existing struc- ture, leaving an opening of several hundred feet. Upon the proposed | !breakwater’s completion, a body of 'still water will be present to facili- ftate docking of smaller vessels. The men are traveling to the Westward aboard the steamship | Mount McKinley. Small equipment for the project is also being carried laboard the Alaska steamship, while heavier equipment has already beeq hipped aboard a freighter for Sew- ard. GERMAN RATED.
