Burns Testifies | Robert Burns, a long time resident | *of Juneau and a special officer on| the day of the trouble, was the other witness called by the Government this morning. Burns named C. W. Farlin, Ed Rennie, Marion Warner,! Ernest Giovanetti, Warren Beavert| and Abel Anderson as defendants he said he saw taking part in the street| disturbance. He said he had seen George Kodzoff and Evan Dzaloff, other defendants, but did not know Jthem by name, only when they were ‘pointed out to him, and he wasn't sure just where he had seen them Burns testified he saw a man draw| a gun that morning in front of the union hall but that another man had taken it away from him.-He did not know either of the men he men- tioned. He testified further that he‘ saw one man with a bolt in his hand, another with a brick and still an- other with a rock in each hand.| Burns said he told the man with| the rocks he had better get rid of | them and the man did so, dropping | them. Tells of Day’s Happenings The witness reiterated much of | the testimony previously given, tell- ing of the marchers leaving from| Front Street until stopped in the vicinity of the union hall by a group of men blocking the street. The de- _fendants now on trial are alleged to have been in the line blocking the street and offering resistance to the marchers after being warned by of- ficers to clear the street. The Gov- ernment further charges that felonious attacks were made by cer- tain of the defendants. Burns said he also was at the A. J. office, when the men wanting to go to work wére registering and charg- ed there was resistance there on the part of union men. » AFTERNOON SESSION Ernest Daniels, A. J. employee, was recalled to the witness stand this afternoon to point out men, he says, he saw in the line of resistance near the. union hall. He pointed to Nick Kobak, N: R Correll, Simon Graner, Benny Larson, Ed Rennie, irr addition to Alex Daroff, Warren Beavert and Mentur Peterson, who he had nam- | | ed when on the stand Friday. He testified he did not know the-men’s ‘fames but knew them by sight. ‘Simpson MacKinnon, who was a | speeial officer on the day of the al- leged riot, pointed to C. W. Farlin ag a man he had seen take two oth- er men by the arms and say, “We'll blogk them off here,” and go out in the middle of the street to form a; line. b Other Witnesses Other witnesses called this after- ‘“hoon for the government were Wil- 1lam Norton, a special officer; Ken- neth Junge, regular police officer; Russell White, A. J. employee, and Martin Jorgensen, special officer on that day. White named Farlin and Ernest: Giovanetti as defendants he had seen among those blocking the street, but when ‘asked to point to the , man he said he knew as Ed Eng- bexg, who, he said, was near the A. «J. employment office, he pointed to Mentur Peterson. Later he reversed his identification and pointed to Engberg as the man he had seen. Frank Agoff, Ed Rennie, Harry Datoff, Matthews and Peter- *'son were named by Officer Junge from among the defendants as men he had seen at the scene of the trouble.
