Mr. Jost recently arrived from Chicago some three weeks ago and came west on account of his health, being bothered with asthma and the climate here has proven very beneficial to him. Mrs. Jost is expected here in a week or so. A crowd of jolly young folks from Uniontown consisting of Messrs. John and George Web- ber and Joe Bush and the Misses Tillie and Flora Webber visited at the B. Luchtefeld home at Keuterville and W. B. Husman home here in Cottonwood over Sunday and Monday also taking in the banquet of the K. C.’s Sunday evening. Oscar Hatsburg was a passen- ger for Kamiah Tuesday morn- ing were he will visit for a few days. Mr. Hatsburg had lost a number of cattle some three or four weeks ago and had practi- cally given up of every finding them but throught an advertise- ment in the Chroncile found them two days after our publica- tion last week. He no doubt is a firmer believer now. J. Loyal Adkison, U. S. com- missioner of Whitebird was a business visitor in Cottonwood ‘| Tuesday of this week. Mr. Ad- kison stated that the business men of Whitebird had signed a contract with the Ellison-White people to show there next year. Whitebird no doubt will be one of the smallest towns on the El- lison-White circuit, this distinc- tion having been held by Culde- sac this year. along all lines. Our s Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mader of Keuterville were business visitors in Cottonwood Thurs- day. A big baby boy arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Harri- son last week. Dr. Orr was the attending physician and reports all concerned doing nicely. Mrs. A. C. Kolb of Orofino who has been visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. P. A. Gaul the past week returned to her home Monday. Mrs. Kolb was taken to her home in Mr. Gaul’s car. Mrs. Frank Simon and chil- dren departed Wednesday morn- ing for Palouse, Wash. were they will visit at the home of her mother. Mrs. Simon’s mother has been visiting with her daughter in Cottonwood for some time and accompanied them home. ; D. F. VanPool and Geo. Smith were visitors in Cottonwood last week from their homes on Sal- mon river. Mr. Van Pool and Mr. Smith were also Lewiston visitors before returning to their home. While here Mr. VanPool visited with his daughter, Mrs. O. D. Hamlin and grandchildren. John Bauer, Ben Albers and John Knopp sr. returned the last of the week from Chewelah, Wash. were they spent a week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Puthoff. On their return they induced Frank to re- turn with them and to be pres- ent at the K. of C. initiation in advertising | « Sunday afternoon. Mr. Puthoff returned to his home again Mon- day morning by railroad. While in Portland Mr. Flint’s mother be- came very ill and for a time her life was in great danger but when he left the Rose city she L| was well on her road to recovery again. Mrs. Tom Randall and sons de- ljnarted Monday morning for 1| Lewiston were Mrs. Randall will again place her son under the care of a physician. They came up last week to take in the chau- tauaua. They expect another carload in a few days. Howard McKinley and wife, Dick Haskins and wife and A. A. Herrison returned last even- ing from southern Oregon were they have been on business. On their way home they seen five rattlesnakes on the main thoroughfares. Hardy Cain, who perhaps has the ditsinction of having made the best time from Idaho county to France passed through Cot- tonwood Wednesday evening en- route to his home at Grangeville. It was less than 30 days after he joined that he landed in France.
