[By Cable to The Chicago Tribuns.] Loxpox Orrice oF Tee Cricsco TRIDUNT, 6 Pitomave Prac, Steasp, Oct. 6—I11 p. m.—It was no doubt in compliance with ur- gent crders to accomplish some success be- fore the setting in of winter that the Rus- sian commander in Armenia attacked Mukhtar on Taesday. Further details clear up the somewhat vague accounts hitherto received. The battle has been o protracted and obstinately fought one, and it cannot yet be said that either side has the best of it. The Turks have struggled hard, but have certainly ’ NOT GAINED THE VICTORY claimed by them. The Russians, in the course of three days’ fighting, gained an im- portant position on the heights of the Great and Little Yagni; but, in consequence of the difficulty of procuring water supplics, they withdrew from them. The Turks claim to have driven them out. ‘The Russian comm.lmd.nr VHOPED T DELIVEE A CRUSIING BLOW unexpectedly upon Mukhtar's forces and drive them back to or beyond Kars. In this he was not successfal, but the battle was expected to be renewed yesterday, and all will depend on the result of that encounter. The Rus- sian losses in the three days’ fighting are re- ported here as 5,000, while those of the Turks were equally great. - BULGARIA. AWAITING REINFORCEMENTS. Loxpos, Oct. 6.—The army of the Czaro- witels, in Balearia, awaits the arrival of all its reinforcements before venturing to advance cither towards Rustcbuk or across the Upper Lom. TITE OTTOMAN ARMY of Shumla can hardly make an olensive move- ment until its new commander, Suleiman Pasba, bas arrived at headquarters. If the weatber and roads continue good, heavy fizhting may be expected in this direction within a few days. The army of the Czarowiteh will have no longer occasion to balt after the rearmost battalions of the Guard have crossed the Danube,and the new Ottomsn commander may attempt some bold exploit, AT PLEVSA, the Roumanians have pushed their sapto within afew yards ot the counterscarp of tue second redoubt on the Gravitza ridge. No trustworthy account indicates that the position of Osman Pasha has beeu invested or closely blockaded. CHEFKET'S ARMY. The army of Chefket Pasha, at Orchanie, is reported to be reinforced by a portiou of the battalions in Shipka Pass. The concentration of aconsidernble army in Osman Pasha’s rear may be the forerunner of his withdrawal frum Plevng, if the movement be possible. ASIA MINOR. A CRITICAL PERIOD. Lospoy, Oct. 6.—From Mukhtar Pasha’s latest dispatch it seems that the Russians have withdrawn from the right and centre of his line and concentrated their catire army at Aktschak, on Kars-Tschai, fifteen miles northeast of Kars. This is undoubtedly the - greatest and most critical affair of the war in Asia Minor. The object of the Russian attack is to cut Mukbtar off from Kars or to drive him under its walls and shut bim up there. Ifit fails, the second Russian campaign in Asia will be over. TURKISH SULLETIN.
