S Concert To Bé Given October Sixth Interests Casper Public Under the auspices of the Charity depargment of the Casper Woman's Deyfftmental Club, the first con. t of this widter’s season will be given on Monday evening, October 6 at the America theater. The twp artists, Middleton, bass baritone and Althouse, tenog, are without a superior in the musical world. Sea son ickets are now on sale at the Klein-Marks Music and Art Shop and the Wells music store. To sing well demands something more than voice. Voice is essential, and the degree of its warmth and color and flexibility and power de- termines its worth. But the sing- er who commands his auditors, who touches the chord of their respon- siveness, must ~ possess resources other than voice alone. ‘The sing- ing talent and emotion are other requisites. | Musical intelligence is yet another. So, too, is the capa- city to enunelate distinctly the text —which is the heart of the song be- cause the story is there. Paul Althouse has gained his pre- eminept position among tenors be- cause he ig a singer with a volce— who sings! At the Metropolitan opera hous® he has proved for nine ccessive seasons that he deserves place among the elect. On the concert platform Mr. Althouse has monstrated again and again—year + year—that he is an artist. ch new season finds this young \merican better equipped than the season before. Experience and in- dustry are mellowing his dramatic tenor voice and his constantly broad- ening art. Mr. Althouse has progressed in his career because he was endowed igh the essentials for achieving one whth is unicue. He is no less et- fective in sotg recital than as a distinguished soloist in any of the numerous festivals for which he is anoually engaged. ‘ ‘The popularity of M’ddleton is in- ted by the fact that he has ap- red over 500 times in “The Mes n.ecual number of times “Oljah” with very many appear- ances in all the other oratorfos be- sides, His concert {tineraries have carried him over thousands of miles into every stute of the union and to fat away Australia.
