BULLETIN By PAUL R. MALLON MUNICIPAL —AUDITO- RIUM, CLEVELAND, Ohio, Juné 5.—Senator Robert M. LaFollette was officially put forward tonight as the inde- pendent presidential candi- date of the progressive force for the nation. With virtually no dis- senting vo'ce the conference for pro- gressive political action, in its clos- ing session, endorsed LaFollette’s declaration of war on the two old line parties and adopted his plat- form on economic reforms as a basis of principles for the new move- ment. Here is the program under the action of the conyention: 1. LaFollette will immediately launch a campaign of opposition to the ‘Republican and Democratic nominees setting himself up with the endorsement of the convention —not.as a third: party candida! but. as an: indeperident bound to no other. party. 2. The national committee of the convention will call upon LaFollette after the Democratic convention ts conciided and ask him to name his vice presidential candidate who then will receive their endorsement. 3. The platform upon which LaFollette will base his campaign— as adopted, with LaFollette’s ap- proval, by the convention—will de- mand economic reform to kill the power of monopoly over govern. ment. The proposition for formation of distinct third party was delayed until after the Noyember elections Under the report of the organiza tions committee.as adopted, the na tional: committee of this. progressive convention will next January uM another national conyention to take up the matter. , This action satisfied all elements in the convention and every step in the program was taken practically with unanimous approval. From the time the convention be- gan Friday. morning until it closed tonight, every action taken. was in accordance with the expressed de- sires of the progressive leader. His namé was greeted with enthusiastic demonstrations. The lone purpose of the convention was to cristalize the revolt against the major party and’-organize a strong movement for LaFollette and it was accom- plished without the slightest revolt Democrats, Republicans, sives, Farmer-Laborites, Soci labor, leaders and mers. threatened demonstration for a plank against the Ku Klux Klan and the advertised revolt of the Socialists for formation of an imme- diate third party failed to mate- rialize. The Cheyenne .Chamber of Commerce has announced a booster trip on which they expect to have 500 state capital boosters and while Casper does not expect that many, it expects to make up in enthusiasm for the laek of numbers. An entirely-new redistricting of registration and polling places for Casper and Salt Creek will be approved by the county commissioners within the next few days. The fea- ture of the plan will be that Casper will have 24 instead of 19 precincts and Salt Creek precincts will be increased from three to 10.
