‘SUNDAY, MAY 18, 1924. KEEP AUTO IN GOOD ORDER Power Lost, Testis Multiply Through Car Neglect. Vaives that have become warped or pitted under high heat, or that are “riding”’ due to insufficient clear- ance, all result in a direct power loss. It 18 important, therefore, to keep the valves properly ground-in and in correct adjustment at all times, Scored cylinders or bad fitting pis- tons and rings; faulty ignition, due to dead or fouled spark plugs; in- correct timing and weak electrical output, are all conducive ~ exces- sive dilution. If the oll level does not indicate an apparent consump- tion, the rate of raw fuel dilution is Ing a dangerous stage and sedy is to correct the mechani¢al, defect. If the cylinders are out of round, tapered or scor have them reground and new pistons and rings refitted. When excessive wear has set in, the use of a heavier Oil will not al- Jeviate the condition. The system provides for the man and his family, who do not own a car of their own, but long to enjoy some of the pleasures which have always been closed to them. The Auto Service Co., located at 135 North Wolcott street, is op- erating an_ establishment where Fords, new Fords, are rented by the hour, day or week. Either closed or open cars may be had. Many Casper people are planning extensive vacation trips in rented cars because of the extremely reasonable rates. A party of four may rent a brand new touring car for the low cost of ten dol- lars. This rental figure en- titles them to the use of the car for 24 hours. In that time they are allowed to drive 100 miles. Any num- ber of miles driven above that figure is paid for at the rate of 1214 cents per mile. Great for fishermen? We'll say itis. The cost of the gas and oil is of course to be ad- ded, which it ig estimated in the case of four people will approach $3.00 per person. This’ should be welcome news to both tourist and salesmen going to Salt Creek and other outlying points. : For city driving a rental fee of $5 for 12 hours with a mileage limit of 50 miles, has been set. Several Cas- per folks have rented a car in this way while their own trusty gas buggy reposed in the paint or repair shop. For short drivds the fee of $1.00 per hour has been set.. This figure allows the man who rents the car to drive ten miles in each hour, after which the 1214 cent per mile figure is attached. Best of all, it will be possible for those who are not fortu- nate enough to own cars to drive through Yellowstone Park this summer at a figure far below the cost of a rail- road trip. A new Ford may be rented at the Auto Ser- vice Co., for $10 per day. In this way an eight day trip would cost a party of four or five people just $80. This allows them to drive 800 miles'in eight days which is ample time to view the won- ders of America’s greatest National Park. The Auto Service Co. has also added to-their washing and greasing facilities and better service is assured— Advertisement, away with a heavier bodied lubri- cant.
