A number of scenes were made on the train and the en- tire c any stopped at Jamestown, to make atreet scenes, The company remained on location for three weeks during which time they filmed a series of exciting scenes in a forest fire Among the equipment taken to location was a high powered motor fire truck fitted with the latest de- vices, and an aeroplane. Jacqueline Logan drove the flying machine across the forest and Inter drove the fire truck through the burning trees. Other featured players in- clude Antonio Moreno and Walter Hiers. The cast includes Charles Ogle, Robert McKim, Luke Cos- grove and Warren Rogers. —_—— “THE HILL BILLY” NOW PLAYS AT THE AMERICA If {t were possible to retrace the times and customs of a hundred or more years ago in the Kentucky mountains, one would see the same sort of people and their surround- ings as Jack Pickford presents in his ijatést photoplay, “The Hill Billy,” an Allied Producers and Dis tributors’ Corporation release, which Plays at the America theater today and Saturday. Tireless research has brought to light the lives and customs of these rugged people of the hills. George Hil, Jack Pickford'’s director, Mar. fon Jackson, the writer, and “Jack spent weeks of ceaseless study of the various histories of Kentucky seeking data, in order to present the characters and their surroundings in a vivid, natural nt. Lueille Ricksen, Hollywood's little leading lady, was chosen to play the lead with Jack. Her interpretation of the timid, little backwoods girl is portrayed in a convincing manner. Frank Leigh, Jane Keckley, and Ralph Yearsley also have important roles. In keeping with the Goldwyn com- pany’s policy of producing big p! tures, the cast of “The Rendezvous” is a strong one, Conrdd Nagel plays Lieutenant Stanford, a dash- ing young American army officer in Russia. Lucille Ricksen, who it seems only a few years ago was featured in Booth Tarkington's Edgar comedies, plays her first lead- ing role, Elmo Lincoln, who played Tarzan of the Apes, gives a con- summate performance as Ivan Godunoff, a cossack villain, Sydney Chaplin, brother of Charles, adds some fine comedy. Other fine actors fa “The Rendezvous" are Emmett Corrigan, Eugenie Besserer, Kath- leen Key, Richard Travers, Lucien, Littlefield, Kate Lester and Cecil Holland. COMEDY ON TRUTH NEW COLUMBIA PRODUCTION Bud Brownie’s Budding Beauties scored again last night when they opened with “The Unadulterated Truth,”a tablolad adapted from a play that was more than ordinarily successful a short time ago all over the country. The comedy takes up| s a 24-hour period during which a man has pledged himself to tell nothing but the truth. He succeeds in his effort but gets into some very embarrasing situations. Song and dance specialties are up to standard in this production. Jimmy McDonald, Jerry Cox, Miss Nellie Richards, and others of the company are featured in song num- bers while the cowboy quartet and MUSICIAN QUT OF TUNE “Gas pressure in my stomach sometimes distressed me so that I could not think.
