PAGE TWELVE AY, MARCH 13, 1924 of the finest banking in Wyoming. There are banking buildings in the state, but it is doubtful if there are finer. The building has been in course of construction for several months and now that it is completed it is an ornament to the town, county ing point on this side and between the receiving and sending stations at Warsaw. BY L. ©. OWEN Copyright, 1924, Casper Tribune SAN FRANCISCU, March 13— The appelation of “tool women,” long applied to that class of fem inity which drives motor cars, no longer holds good. The women folk all along have contended that it never did. But they have had only mere words—including the feminine prerogative of the last one—to back 4 ts, So the male of ne-abont his noisy » believe. ial attestation in y reports by the coroner of th thag women are more careful, and therefore more capable automobile drivers than are men. Dr. T. W. B. Leland is the public official who comes forward with indubitable proofs that insofar as the’ fair sex and their op. eration of gas buggies is concerned, s an unfair and undeserved libel For the last three years Coroner Leland has been keeping careful check upon the cause of all lau tomobile accidents in San Francisco The summary of his tabulations ‘s enlightening. In the three years there have been a total of 309 fa tal accidents. In only seventeen of these was the death car driven by a woman. All the other fatalities were caused by men drivers. The same tabulations also shows that women are becoming better and better operators of automobiles Three years ago women drivers killed nine victims. Two years ago their score dropped to five. For all of last year it was only three. For instance, the three years of record keeping shows that it is not the driver of hurtling gas jugger nauts, but the lowly pedestrian. who is in the most peril of his life. Of the 309 persons killed 209 or slightly over two thirds were afoot when they met death. The heavy toll on pedestrians also points a moral. Ninety eight of them were what are commonly termed ‘‘jay-walkers.” In only 28 cf the 309 accidents did the driver of the machine lose his life. Ninety-five other victims were occupants of machines wrecked by reckless or incompetent drivers.
