This is @ ¢ usually done with an illustration. _THE EXPRESSION OF AN IDEAL Jor Satisfaction, Quality or Price buy SAVAGE TIRES THE GREAT TO MOTORISTS To manufacture tires, so perfect in de- sign and construction that they surpass all previous accomplishments in tire building, so pleasing to the eye that they enhance the beauty of the finest car. so remarkable in performance that they ‘Serve the user’s interests beyond his every reasonable expectation --- this has been the purpose; is now, we have reas- on to believe, the accomplishment; and will continue to be the endeavor of The Spreckels ‘‘Savage’’ Tire Company, ex- emplified in the building of Savage Tires, FROM DISTRIBUTED BY The Wyoming Compression Tube 426 East Second Street & Tire Co., Inc, Phone 1125-M FACTORY AND ARISTOCRAT CORD REGULAR FABRIC TRAILMAKER CORD PEACE OFFERING COPYRIGHT 1923 S.S.T. CO. ——_—_- It’s a good idea to have the names of the products advertised fairly prominent in the ad so people will know what you're talking about. I think this is a pretty good ‘'catch phrase"’ because it has a double meaning. Itserves asa title to the illustration and it gives people the idea that by using Savage Tires they will be relieved of a lot of tire trouble. Not a bad thought—is it? This headline will tie up the illus- tration with the reading matter that follows. It’s not very strong as an “attention or interest getter’’ but it honestly lets people know what's coming. I think this is rather a nice flow of words—lI built up the idea and got most of the expressions from an automobile ad and now it fits our case exactly. I wonder, though, if people will believe a statement like this? The trouble is, the words seem to express something almost too good to be true. And yet, when a firm is really actuated by high ideals and has accomplished certain noteworthy things, it seems only right to tell people about it in the nicest words you ‘can. That's what I've done here. Advertising text books say a “‘part- ing thought’”’ should be left with the reader that will make them want to buy the product advertised. A list of our dealers makes it easy for you to.verify what I have said about our tires by making a com- parison of our tires with the ones you are using now.
