CFE AEN REALTY ADDITIONS HAVE | f RECORDS HEL BY THE HUDSON Significance of These Marks Two-Fold, Says R. N. Van Sant. “Every American transcontinental record for time and endurance {s held within the Hudson organization, ac- cording to R, N. Van Sant, local Hudson-Essex dealer. “So are the records for 24 hours continuous run- ning, for a similar trial of 60 hours, und many others. “The significance of these records is two-fold. “First, they were all made with stock cars such as anyone could buy from any Hudson or Essex dealer. “Second, they are records which could not be established by! mere speed but which required also endur ance and reliability of the highest character. “Of the transcont'nental records, the one-way mark is held by the Bs- sex and the round trip by the Hud- fon. The Essex record was made in 1920 and Hudson's four years prev- fousty, -Though roads have greatly improved, made has never been equalled. “Probably the most spectacular of Hudson-Essex achievements was the “eWay transcontinental trial of the Hasex in August of 1920. Four cz were chosen so as to guard aga any possible road mishap or freak of weather. Two started from New York (City and two from San Franc’ “Every one of those four cars beat the best previous record for the trip! “Average time for all four cars was f days, 21 hours and 32 minutes; fast- est time was 4 days, 14 hours and 43 minutes, “What is most surprising perhaps to those who know the inside of speed records is the fact that every one of those four Essex cars is still in dally Operation. As they were not special ears in any way, the Essex organiza- {ion put them on the market after they had been exhibited a time, and \hey were purchased by private own: ers, Recently a check-up was made on thelr caseers and {t was found that each one is in daily use, and giving catisfactory service. “Hudson's two-way record wax SELLING. POINTS Fact That City Is Building Toward the East Is Big Feature. At a time when Casperites are turn- ing at different points looking for building sites, many have set their mind upon lots which are being of- fered in the eastern portion of the city because of the'r feeling that the city {s rapidly growing in that Cireo- tion. The See Ben Realty company has been having unusual success in marketing the lots which Ne in the Casper View addition and in the East Terraces, There are only fifty lota left In the first named addition which are stil! in the possession of the See Ben com pany. These are being sold at a rapid rate. The attraction which this addi- tion holds for homebuyers is to be found in the fact that the land is slop- ing with excellent drainage, that city water and lighting are accessible, that the streets are graded, and that the addition Hes on the boulevard! to the new Country club. When new busses arrive for the White Motor Truck company it is planned to place a bus on this route and to furnish quick transportation to the heart of Casper from Casper View. The ground 1s also Just south of Bucknum park recently named by the city. The East Terraces lie east of the clty with the extension of Second street running through them, fur- nishing many lots that Ne on each side of this rapidly developing avenue The lots are also on the way to the Texas refinery. The East Terraces algo adjoin the park and are further to be beautified by the fact that the streets are laid ITs C made some four years prior to tho [Essex trials. At that time the very {idea of a two-way transcontinental dash was unique. “The speedometer showed 3.476 miles from San Francisco to New York. In the going trip the Super- Six averaged 28.14 miles per hour. This incltWed all stops and the slow- ng down to the speed requirements of more than 350 cities, towns and vil- lages. The rcturn trip, because of floods, was not so fast. In cluding all stops from San Francisco until its return, the Super-Six traveled 7.952 miles at the rate of over 700 miles a day. “To Hudson and Essex engineers the most prized fact in all these re- cords was that endurance was proved, and that economy and reserve strength were shown to be equally present with speed. The factory man agement regards the work-a-day virtues as far more to be sought than any others. Balanced development and all-round operating ability are the fundamental aims of Hudson-Essex engineers, YOU MUST BE ON THE GROUND AT 3 P.M.
