IONDON, April 83—Experts were predicting that the record .of 17 mip- utes 51 25 seconds for the-four mile relay race wonld bo broken today by the winner of the three cornered match in England's first relay carnival at the Queen's club, with the University of Pennsylvania team competing with quarters from Oxford and Cambridge. The contest was arranged as the first big international event of the year and to feature the annual public schools tournament in competition for the Achilles trophy baton, donated by the Achilles club which sponsored the affair. Club officials were elated over the emtry list of 30 principal schools and felt their beginning was success- fal. The spectacular phase of the-event was expected to be supplied by Cap- tain Larry Brown of Pennsylvania and H. D. Stallard, the most feared of the Englishmen. Stallard has done ® mile in 4 minutes 12 seconds, and critics who have watched his training anticipated he would not require more than 4 minutes 16 seconds today. ‘The American quartet hoped to av- erage 427 which would bring the iast runner to the tape inside the record. Wilmer McLane, Sayman Kerr and Pohnny Herr, the latter replacing Head, were less at home fn an in- ternational meet than Captain Brown, but the trio had the comfort of know- ing that their antagonists were not more experienced. ‘The four-mile record is 2n American product. It was established fn 1913 by the Boston A. A. and equalled by a team from Cornell three years later. tessa NOTICE TO CREDITORS. Estate of John Dillon, Deceased.
