SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1922. CHRRUTH MAN “OF VION 1 * TEXAS. FEL (Continued from. Page Six) , > of the greatest living oil men. And saw the people who had deubted him, his name. He saw wealth and ands found the rainbow’s end because of the courage and the tenacity o purpose of one man working alone.— “Hog Creek” Carruth. There is no end of romance sur rounding “Hog Creek” h’s OD company and his valiant 'grosp of in- vestore, and many are the thrilling, touching, human interest stories tha might be told if space permitted, How- ever, this narcative will not be com- plete until at least two of the morr striking ones have been recounted here. . : It must first be borne in mind tliat many, yes, most of Carruth’s financial backers were people who could ii af ford to lose the money they entrusted to him. It represented hard-earned Gollars to them—in ‘some Instances, a life's savings. One of these was a country doctor living in a nearby vil lage. _He had sufficient faith in Car- ruth and his ofl centure to Invest $1,200 in his company. For this twelve shares of “Hog tock. Shortly thereafter, thia doctor ose faithful performrance of his “duty had saved the lives of many in his community, took sick and died suddenly. His unttmely pre- ceded that of his wife but a few weeks. And—two beautiful little girls, then aged three and five respectively, were left behind—orphans. ‘The doctor owned little property ‘and had little money in the bank at the time of his decease. His insur- ance would not go far toward the care, support and education of these two orphaned, baby girls. A guardian was appointed and in going through the effects of the late father, be came across the twelve shares of Hog Creek stock. He regarded !t much ¥ en other stock’ is regarded until it has Proven its value, He put it aside With other doubtful documents. _ Little did the guardian of these two babies realize that in a few week's time that same stock was to be worth 100 to 1 and that the orphans left in hia care were to receive the brand sum of $121,620 cash for those twelve @hares — more than $60,000 for each tle girl. The interest from their Tthoughful father’s $1,200 investment now caring for and educating them, and when they become of age. thes two children will each receive a com- petonce that will give them both all the comforts of life to the end of their days—$60,000 apiece! Contrasted to the above, is a rather humorous incident, wherein an auto- mobile dealer accepted.two shares of ‘Hog Creek stock in trade for two tires tnd suddenly found himself wealthy. It is best told in the following excerpt from an article appearing in the Tex- as Oil Gazette, last year: “How an automobile dealer in Wax- ahchie, Texas, cepting two shares of Hog Creek Oil company stock in a “swap” for two automobile casings in a story that is going the rounds in Texas. “The auto dealer had as a patron ‘one day, the time when Hog Creek il ite Ht *t A ea : a I [ i i @ small part of the acreage lying in Van Zandt and Henderson counties. Dime stocks frequently pay dollar dividends, but that’s not the limit of our ambitions. We have a gilt edge lease—400 priceless acres—right in the path of pro- duction—within gunshot of Mexia’s billion-dollar lane. Our No. 1 well is down over 2,000 feet—it’s half way to pay and better, it looks as likely as a Kentucky filly at a country fair. Our quick action plan is to drill No. 1 to early completion, sell out to one of the big companies, split a big juicy mellon among our unit holders, We're not going to “piddle around” with production—we’re going to sell— we are not going to be content until we pay every unit holder hundreds of dol- lars for every dollar invested. It’s possible too, our capitalization is low — $75,000.00 — our holdings are large—400 acres—our par value is small—10 cents—our well is over half way to the sand—drilling night and day. The field is moving southeast. Well after well is proving the southern ex- tension of the field—opportunity beckons you TODAY. Stroud No. 1 Is An Extension—-Ours May Be the Next The Magnolia Petroleum Company’s Stroud No. 1 well is a producer. This completion extends the proven area two miles south of the southern outpost of the Mexia pool and adds thousands of dollars to the value of the Mexia Extension acreage. The Stroud No. 1 completion promises to give a tremendous play to the en- tire southern part of the field. Stroud No. 1 went into an entire new formation at 3,290 feet. It is officially reported as making 500 bwrrels daily. Think what this means: It justifies our judgment, proves our prophecy and bolsters up our enduring faith in the logical extension of the Mexia pool to the - southeast. You may waken any morning now face to face with the announcement of other sensational completions in the southeast extension. Every new gusher, every offset completion should mean countless dollars to you if you are numbered among the profit-sharing unit holders of the Mexia Extension Syndicate. Read, Reason and Act! Have you lost in oil? If you have, it’s all the more reason why you should get in on this proposition. Get in on the ground floor on the 400 sure enough, top structure, straddle the anticline acres that authorities agree is plumb above the biggest deposit of the most luscious oil sands in the whole state of Texas. This is a waterless oil enterprise, no fancy promotion, no picturesque publicity. It’s the drillingest, likeliest, sure-fire profit maker be- tween the Gulf of Mexico and the McKenzie River The days are passing. As well after well comes in and as production creepes and crawls and leaps to the southeast, Mexia Ex- tension Syndicate acreage will mount and climb and soar in value. Day and night the giant rotary is grinding its Bs payward beneath the derrick of our We 1. When this well bursts into production it'll be too late for you to participate. You must get in now if you expect to share in the fabu- lous profits that seem certain in this enter- prise. As the Drill Goes Down, Stock Goes Up—ACT TODAY! CTSWR, Wyo., MEXIA EXTENSION SYNDICATE, Dan Waggoner Bldg., Fort Worth, Texas. Fate has tipped the horn of plenty. Treasure is pouring into the lap of folks who had the foresight to get into Mexia early. ‘The same opportunity, the same combina- tion of circumstances, the same certainty of fabulous reward exist in the southeast trend today as they did in Mexia three months ago. It’s just a question of faith and finance, of desire and drilling. Figure it out for your- self, Calculate the possible profits acres at $10,000 an acre. $4,000,000 is a conservative estimate of the valuation of our holdings should the Mexia Southeast Extension yield as it gives promise to.
