PROSPECTS GOOD FOR OlL IN MIDWEST-CAGTUS WELL Word from the Lusk field this) morning wes that the Midwest-Cac- tus well on section 27-36-65 has a better showing for coming im an oil well. For two days the gas flow was so heavy as to lead to the belief that it would be completed as a gas well Now more oil is coming up and the gas pressure is reported to be diminishing. The well is near the center of the south line of section 27, and it was believed by its drillers that the loca- tion was far enough north to miss the ‘gas belt. It is one-half mile north of the 60,000,000 cubic-foot gasser brought in last October by the Buck Creek Oil company and one-fourth of a mile northeast of the Buck Creek No which came in with 45,000,- #00 feet a few weeks ago. The Midwest-Cactus well is 150 feet deeper than Buck Creek No. 27, showing that it is farther down on the structure, and also demonstrating the probability of striking oil in wells now drilling on the north. ee Mr. and Mrs. George E. CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex, Aug. 29.—The giant gas well at White- point, which has leng defied the ef- forts to control it, was brot in today by the Corpus Christi Oil & Gas company. The company now has all of the fittings on the well and is pre- paring to cut the big well, which is estimated to bé> making 40,000,000 cubic feet a day. This field has a world-wide record as being the largest ever discovered anf the capping of this well means that very shortly this part of Texas will have one of the largest supplies of petroleum natural gas available for commercial purposes to be found anywhere in the world, The Corpus Christi Oil & Gas company is now drilling another well not far from this large gasser and the operations are being watched with great interest by many oil men who predict that this will soon prove te be a second Tampico oil field. Great excitement prevails here and it looks as tho a boom is on and that this will be the next big oil strike in Texas. ee ATTENTION TURNS TO TEAPOT SECTION Attention is again attracted to the Teapot area of the Salt Creek field by impending developments in con- nection with field operations. On sec- tion 16-39-78, Mosher well No. 2, is reported below the 2,600-foot point. The No. 1 well on this section came in at 2,743 feet and is reported to} have blown its cap three times before being connected up with the pipe line.
