We take this early opportunity to express to the good citizens of the elty ‘of Butler our admiration for, and appreciation of, the splendid majority of 166 votes cast by the citizens of Butler at the election | Monday “against the sale of {ntoxt-| cating liquors.” The conscience of our citizens was aroused and it has expressed itself upon this question {n no uncertain tone. To the good women of Butler and viciaity is due, and 1s hereby yielded the meed of praise for the result thus attained. To those who espoused the oppo alte view of this question we express the hope that they will with unanim- ity accept the results as having been properly settled and act accordingly It, however, there should be those still of the opinion that the law can- not be inforced, and shall seek to give expreasion to that opinion by a defiance of the will of the people es thus expressed, to all such we beg to say that we are “enlisted for four) years, or during the war,” and it ehall be our purpose, with the sup- port of the good citizens of shis city, to eee that the sentence of the law fs properly executed. Barres County ANTI SaALoon LEAGUE Dr. Atkinson believes a Nevada patient of his had an experience and andergone @ danger few people, if any, ever before went through and lived. The patient in question 1s Mrs. D. E. Warren, who lives on South Pine street. Ten yeare or eo ago the doctor was called to walt upon the lady, who seemed to have some sort of heart trouble. The trouble has fre- quently returned during the inter vening period and at times Mrs. Warren has had great trouble and palo getting breath. The only thing that seemed to do her good was the rubbing of ber side over the heart. Last Thureday one of thesame old spells came on and the sameold rem- edy was resorted to. While rubbing her side the lady’s hand came {n con- | tact with the point of a needle, which had worked its way to the surface. The needle was removed, coming out between the fith and sixth ribs, and the blackened condition of the steel showed that it had been in the Jady’s flesh a long time. Its remov- al seemed to give the lady relief and Dr. Atkingon declares the bellef that | |{¢ gradually worked its way through | her heart, though {ts presence fs a) mystery. | The case {sa peculiar one and prob- | ably without parallel {n the history of medicine.
