New York, Nov. 23 —The most rewarkabie case of business honesty and conscientiousness ever kuown has come to light ww the action of Amos F Eno, who, at an estimate outlay of $500.000 is paying off old claims agains: « firm which was a member, end which failed two weeks after the outbreak of the civil war. Before the war Amos F Env, now of the Fifth Avenue Hotel, wa~ at the bead of the firw of Exo, Rob- erte, Rhoades & Co. In 1857 bir gon Amos F. Exo, succeeded to bis father’s ioterest. In 1859 the firm dissolved, and was succeeded by the firm of Eno, Beuren & Valentine, Amos F. Eso being at its bead. It did in Hicks dry goods, its customers being almost entirely in the south. At the outbreak of the war th- southern merchants refused to ecettle their balances.
