Cincinnati, O., January 1.—A Mount Vernon special says, **Mrs. Stillwell, wife of Jay Stliwell, an emplove of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad, has made a con- tession on her death bed cf three mur- ders. She is at the house of a rela- tive in Knox county. The first was Benjamin Swigart, her first husband, who, she says, she killed at Maryville. Mo., March, 1877, with the aid of her mother and brother. The second was a stranger, whom the same parties killed for money, while stopping at a boarding house. The third was her own daughter, aged fourteen, whom she strangled of her mother, at in the presence Rulo, Nebraska, May, 18S8o. She also confesses to three at- tempts to kill her present husband to obtain his life insurance. These confessions were first made to her husband, and since repeated to oth- ers. She is dying of consumption. There lives in Taylor county 2 Mr. Gaultney, who is the greatest curiosity in Georgia. There seems to be an accumulation ot adipose matter about every joint in his body and the nearer the joints of course the greater amount of this tatty mat- ter. Consequently his feet and hands are enormous, cach weigh- ing over sixteen pounds and being several times larger than his head. He is twenty-three years old and only thirty-six inches in height. An old tar-heel who was ‘‘thar’’ says that at the battle of Chancel- lorsville, while the battle was raging Gen. Rhodes rode up to Gen. Ram- sour and asked him what time it was. Ramsuer, pilling out his old time-piece slowly, said: -*General, {in such an emergency as this my old | watch neyer runs.’”” Rhodes took 1 right off and returned to where the ‘ bullets were ticking the seconds. ; i The temale correspondents at !
