Mrs. Vernon Nordquist gave a report on “Toys for Tiny Tots” and “Thrifty Christmas Gifts.” A pot-luck lunch was served at the close of the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hedstrom were punay, visitors at the Elnard Juhala jome, > | Today’s Recipe f Chocolate Bottom Pie For the chocolate layer, use 2 Squares unsweetened chocolate, 1 cup milk, % cup sugar, 1% tablespoons cornstarch, dash of salt 14 teaspoon avnilla and 1 baked pie shell 9 inches in diameter. Add chocolate to milk and heat in double boiler. When chocolate is melted, beat with rotary beater until blended. Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Gradually add these dry ingredients to chocolate mixture, stirring constantly, and con- tinue to cook until it thickens, never ceasing to stir. After it has thick- ened, cook another 10 minutes, stir- ring constantly. Add vanilla, When cool, turn into the baked pie shell. For the light layer, use 1 egg yolk, 14 cup sugar, dash of salt, 2 cups milk, 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin, 1 egg white, %% teaspoon vanilla, %% cup cream. Beat egg yolk slightly, then combine with sugar, salt and milk. Cook in double boiler 7 minutes, or until scalded. Stir constantly. Re- move from fire and add gelatin, stir- ring until gelatin is completely dis- solved. Then chill. When slightly thickened, fold in the egg white, stiffly beaten, and add the vanilla.
