Lombard, MacMurray | In Mystery Romance ! A story of mystery and romance | on the Atlantic is unfolded by “The | Princess Comes Across,” to open Sat | urday at the Paramount Theatre with Carole Lombard and Fred MacMur- |} tay in the stellar roles. The picture reunites for the first time the screen sweethearts who be- came national favorites in their first feature together, “Hands Across the Table.” A balanced combination of comedy, romance, song and mystery, it gives the team a chance to show their best work. Miss Lombard appears as a charm- ing American girl posing as a Swed- tsh princess, en route to New York to land a film contract. Aboard the luxury-liner “Mammoth,” setting for the entire plot, she meets and falls in love with MacMurray, concertina- Playing maestro of a “swing” band. Before the “Mammoth” has docked at New York, the romance of the sup- posed princess and the music “king” has wound through a plot involving a pair of murderers, blackmail, sleuthing of five international de- tectives and a nick-of-time solution by MacMurray. py BRIEFS +s rn DEATH TOLL HITS 34 Minneapolis — Minneapolis Thurs- @ay recorded its 34th traffic fatality of 1935 with the death of Mrs. Anna Kaufman, 72, who was run down May 31. | _ STUDENT KILLS TEACHER Bethlehem, Pa. — Wesley L. KILLED IN COLLISION |board of trustees of the Norwegian Bill Powell Debonair Detective in Picture That debonair detective, William Powell and his lovely co-star, Jean Arthur, playing in RKO Radio's race track mystery, “The Ex-Mrs, Brad- ford,” hardly need an introduction. This picture will be shown at the Capitol theatre tonight, Saturday and Sunday. This is the third movie in which they have combined their deductive powers to solve cryptic crimes. The pair of screen favorites first appeared together in the “Canary Murder Case” and they were cast again in the “Green Murder Case.” Both were part of the famed Philo Vance detective series. So well did the dark-haired, smooth-mannered Powell and dainty blonde Miss Arthur team together that RKO Radio lost no time in cast- ing them opposite each other in its current mystery film, the successor to “Star Of Midnight.” Miss Arthur's easy mannerisms and dry wit form a perfect foil for the dynamic Powell's rapid fire bon mots. In their current picture, Powell Plays the role of a successful doctor, and Miss Arthur is his ex-wife. She decides to recapture her former hus- band, but finds him involved in a baffling murder mystery. Lutheran Debts Cut; Books Are Balanced Minneapolis, WHERE ARE YOU GOING, BOOTS ?
