Entertainment Galore ‘The Paramount theatre is currently ‘host. to the brightest, happiest and most delightful photoplay the screen thas presented in months, “Captain January,” in which Shirley Temple returns as a tiny sea-waif who steers straight into your heart. Surrounding Laura E. Richard’s pungently dramatic story with a flock. of tinkling tunes and adorable dances, “Captain January” is the story of a little girl and a grizzled old light- house keeper who fight for happiness and who find it after many harrow- ing adventures. The villain in the piece is Sara Haden, in the role of a vixenish truant officer. She bends all her efforts toward separating Shirley and her protector, Guy Kibbee. Plot fol- lows counterplot until Kibbee- flees out to sea with Shirley, and the pic- ture reaches its happy conclusion when the “old meanie” is thwarted, and Shirley and Kibbee are happily rejoined. Most adorable of the tinkling new tunes, all with music by Lew Pollack, is “The Right Somebody to Love.” Shirley's dancing partner in “Captain January” is limber-legged Buddy Ebsen, who performs a flock of fascinating new steps with the star- 4et when he isn’t busy falling in love with June Lang. Slim Summerville and Jame Darwell are outstanding in comedy characterizations in this picture, ably and humorously direct- ed by David Butler. conference meeting ¥v held at Willmar, Min If pastoral service is needed, please contact Mr. H. In those days of frantic rushing to dig fortunes from the earth there were so many times more men than women in the rough town of iron shacks that grew up overnight, that @ new woman in Kimberley was more precious than diamonds and was bid for in marriage with diamonds. It isin Kimberley that Rhodes meets Dr. Le- ander Starr Jameson and Barney Barnato, two men whose fortunes are linked with Rhodes until his death, Another character figuring con- spicuously in Rhodes’ career is Oom Paul Kruger, stubborn and, crafty President of the Transvaal, who fought Rhodes from start to finish, Sludge in the oil filter, if neglected, may fill the filter tank and cause loss of the lubricant by increasing oil pump pressure so greatly as to burst @ seam in the tank. An eight-wheel automobile has been constructed in Germany. It is claimed that it has improved riding quality and greater safety. If headlights become very bright when the car is traveling at high speeds, and dim when it is moving slowly, a weak battery is indicated. Much hard work is eliminated in changing tires through use of a new Portable tire-spreader, which may be easily operated by one person. After coming to a complete stop on a grade, care should be taken to. avoid slipping back, when starting.
