‘ : THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 1936 adjustment service which is designed|to a cooperative: agency made up! Through a study of farm plans we can discover wherein’ there is a lack of certain services and facil- ities to assist in balancing the indi- vidual budget. The Resettlement ad- mnistration tries to supply this lack by providing for cooperative use which will bring quick results. With our rehabilitation families this is done by making individual loans for participation in the needed co- operative services, or by a group loan Schilling Washington, March 27.—(F)—A re- Nef plan that would mean virtual abolition of Harry L. Hopkins’ WRA was put forward Friday by Senator Vandenberg (Rep., Mich.). The Re- publican presidential possibility, who recently succeeding in blocking an appropriation to continue the WPA- started Florida ship canal, proposed that the $1,500,000,000 relief appro- priation asked recently by President Roosevelt be distributed among the states on a basis of population and need. CS) FRUIT FOR SALAD, Red & White, FARM AlD SYSTEM Adjustment of Debt Is First Step in Restoring Agricul- sa Sain ana tural P é SWEDISH CITIES CUT TAXES « tural Prosperity Stockholm.—()}—Nearly all Swed- ish cities have announced reductions in taxes for 1936, in some cases amounting to 13 per cent. Ten com- munities will keep their 1935 rates, while only four smaller cities have in- creased their taxes. Editor's Note: This is the third of a series of articles on the activities and aims of the Reset- tlement Administration. By JOSEFH L, DAILEY, Assistant Administ: it rator Resettlement Administration The rehabilitation of farmers is ac: complished by individual loans, the size and use of which is determined by the farm management plan. These plans take into consideration all pos- sible sources of income and all pos- sible expenditures of the farm fam- ily and, in order for the farmer to be truly rehabilitated, these two must balance. But we in Resettlement know that sometimes a farmer cannot liquidate even a small loan because he is al- ready burdened with such a heavy debt. On the other hand there are farmers who can liquidate a small Joan but a loan large enough to sup- ply certain things which they need cannot be justified in the light of their anticipated income. Knowing that many a needy farm- er’s budget could not be balanced be- cause of one or both of these condi- tions, the Resettlement administra- tion is carrying on two services which are available to low-income farm The Corner Grocery A.
