Ser- mon: “Behold, Jesus!” Gable, Harlow and Loy In ‘Wife vs. Secretary’ Jean Harlow became Clark Gable’s fecretary, and Myrna Loy, his wife, @s cameras started turning on Hunt Btromberg’s production of “Wife Versus Secretary” at Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer, which opens Saturday at the Paramount theatre for four days. ‘The new picture unites the three popular stars for the first time, Gable ‘and Miss Loy having recently trav- eled from vacationing in opposite ends of the world—Santiago, Chile, and Budapest, Hungary—to join ‘Miss Harlow. The union of the famous trio ‘brings to the screen Faith Baldwin's (title, which appeared serially in a mational magazine. It tells the story of the dividing line separating a man’s office from his home, with Gable, as the husband, facing the problem of choosing between the love ‘of his wife, Myrna Loy, and his sec- retary, Jean Harlow. Natives of southern China raise @ great deal of rice, but seldom eat 4t; while peasants of northern China . Tarely see ripe. ‘The United States and Mexico are the two largest producers of silver in the world. — Gene Raymond Woos Debutante in Film ‘With @ lot of perseverance, a little imagination and s sense of humor,! BOOTS AND HER BUDDIES Gene Raymond wins a girl deter- mined to marry another in a wild and Joyous courtship in “Love on a Bet,” at the Capitol theatre, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Wendy Barrie is the object of Gene’s pursuit. Wendy, in turn, is pursuing a socialite millionaire. Raymond experiences & bad start in his romance by appearing before a stunningly clothed Wendy Barrie in his underwear. But his tenacity and sense of humor eventually send his romantic stock sky-high as he follows her for three thousand miles across the continent, appearing successively as a soldier, waiter, hotel clerk, chauffeur, mechanic and amateur sleuth. Simultaneously, Raymond’s heart chase across the country is profitable, for it satisfies the terms of a wager which requires that he leave New York garbed in underwear and arrive in Los Angeles ten days later with a hundred dollars, a suit of clothes and a fiancee. As Miss Barrie’s matronly meddle- some aunt, Helen Broderick has a featured role in “Love on a Bet,” an RKO Radio picture. t TO HURRY AND CATCH, THE bee aoe Nee to THE PRINCE | BX THAT, X THE TOTTS HE'S THE ONE WHO INTERESTS ME MUST REMEMBER TO E eR se lm ages ABOARD , YE RAD THEIR PRECIOUS BOOTS TAKEN! + DON'T WANT ANYTHING MUCH TO i 7, HAPPEN TO THE They are Prese Photo) ' JACK OAKIE WEDS FILM ACTRESS Jack Oakie, film comedian, and Venita Varden, actress, were mar. led at Yuma, Ariz. during a 15-minute stop on a trip from Hollywood as they bought tickets in Los Angeles.
