D, Governor Welford Friday sought to have federal seed loan plans speeded up so elevators throughout North Dakota may be able to know require- ments in their areas “fairly accurate- ly” before ordering government- owned wheat. In a letter to W. I. Myers, governor of the Farm Credit administration, Welford said “information as to who will be eligible for seed is particularly desired. The time is becoming short in which to negotiate for these loans, and it is sincerely hoped arrange- ments might be completed so delay rine RED & WHITE stor The Corner Grocery ‘A, Boutrous, Owner their lightweight grain to equal the fixed value of the tested full-weight @rain, he said. ‘The wheat supplies include durum and hard red spring wheat,” Davis told the governor. “For both types of seed wheat, the price per bushel to farmers at country elevators will be $1.10, plus freight, and a 5 cent Phone 1059 DELIVERIES—8:45 & 10:30; 2:30 & 4:30 Clese Saturday at 8 P. The price of the seed oats will be 30 cents a bushel, plus freight, and a 3 cent handling charge. “Fools’ gold” is the common name for iron pyrite. It can be distin- guished from real gold by the odor of sulphur it gives off under heat. and results of such delay will not be encountered this year.” There is a question, the governor stated in a letter to C. C. Davis, ad- ministrator of the agricultural ad- justment administration, as to wheth- er seed stocks available will get into the hands of elevator men to “really meet the needs that will be devel- oped.” He suggested that if federal seed loan plans are made available as quickly as possible elevators can take orders from farmers and obtain the full amount of wheat required with- out the danger of later losses. Other- wise there is a likelihood elevators will be “very conservative” in placing orders for grain, he warned, with the Possibility local supplies then will be insufficient. According to Davis, the seed wheat must be bought outright by the coun- try elevators, on the condition that until June 1 they sell it to farmers for Seed use at the price stipulated. Un- der those conditions the elevators can, if they wish, make local arrangements for farmers to trade in enough of Just Phone 1060 FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE: Five saps mot rr she = M 500 Third Street KARO, Blue, per 3 Ib. can .. cee We Deliver MOLASSES, Green Br’er, No. 2% can ..... 29c Win, whole, 3 No. 1 cans@OC PEAS and CARROTS, Uncle Wm. per can ... 14c Pet Me rereeseereveeee DEE Large ¥ for ns...
