The close was firm. Transfers ap- proximated 870,000 shares. Speculative circles were encouraged by the apparent abatement of the selling pressure which unsettled the list in the latter part of the preceding session. In view of Friday's holiday, commission houses were not surprised at the apathy which marked most of the day's dealings. Secondary bonds were a bit droopy, although prime issues held their own. Grains milled about in a restricted range and cotton was noticeably hesi- tant. The dollar‘ worked a little higher against leading foreign ex- changes. Several of the mining issues again attracted attention when the price of improved bar silver for commercial ‘use was raised % of a cent an ounce to 67% cents. a 8 60% 61% 2 PE spusttead PEE 40% 49% 49% B% Aah list i ie 2 3 9 easep: +, & Ht ee: io} ot S8SSSusey: FE KKEKS CKKK KEKCKKSS KEKKTKAKL KLKFKKSLLKERKERESE is e . wor Baséy fesek 5 Head ope MARKETS TO CLOSE CHICAGO {at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening are’ Chicago, April | 187) (USDA) —| Margaret Erickson, Claribel McGoon, SESEEERGE : q + | markets, domestic and foreign, will observe Good Friday by suspend- i i VwssVBs Baa Baku business, Cream *|Lillie Mauk, Beverly Korupp, Ardis go exceptions are New York || Crosley Radio ear seer aware generally Wells, Wallace Korupp and Rolland of dairy, poultry, bar silver, foreign || Gavin *yitiny singe 1ag0 1240 late Yes, O18. 20-380" ioe | Wright. ‘This class will be received " | exchange rates, potatoes and fed- || Deere & Co. 8.70-0.05; 140. into full membership in the church eral reports of the various livestock |/Dia.
