THE BISMARCK TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1934 ees ~ JNSULL’S ATTORNEY ~ RESTS; JURY MIGHT GET CASE BY NIGHT’ Two Weeks and Two Days of Defense Testimony Ended Friday Forenoon Chicago, Nov. 16—(#)—The defense in the Insull mail fraud trial rested Friday morning after final testimony | , from Samuel Insull Jr., son of the Chicago utilities executive who is the central figure in the case. The defense came to an end at 11:14 o'clock, after two weeks and two days of testimony designed to ccunter the government's charges that Insull and his 16 associates de- ceived investors The defense lost an attempt, just before Attorney Floyd E. Thompson brought the case to an end, to put into evidence a complicated chart on which a government expert had written involved algebra showing the value of some Insull stock. Attorney Thompson had asked A. E. Sweeney, the accountant, to demon- state his way of calculation. When Sweeney brought in the chart, a five- ‘by seven sheet covered with figures. ‘Thompson deferred cross-examina- tion : Friday, when he offered the prob- Jem as a defense exhibit, Federal Judge James H. Wilkerson grew stern. “Call Mr. Sweeney,” Sweeney took the stand. Thompson stood silent. “Let the record show the witness ‘was called,” said the judge. Prosecutor Leslie E. Salter declared the figures were accurate and the algebra sound, and demanded that ‘Thompson question the expert. “The defense counsel,” said the BANISH COMMON CONSTIPATION WITH DELICIOUS CEREAL Kellogg’s ALL-BRAN Brings Relief Look out for headaches, loss of appetite and energy, sallow com- plexions, sleeplessness. Frequently, these are warning signs of common constipation. If neglected, your health may be impaired. Today, you can rid yourself of common constipation by eating a tempting cereal. Laboratory tests show that Kellogg’s ALL-Bran fur- nishes “bulk” and vitamin B to aid regular habits. ALL-Bran is also rich in iron for the blood. The “bulk” in Att-Bran is much like that found in leafy vegetables. _. Within the body, it forms a soft mass. Gently, this clears out the intestinal wastes. How much bet- ter this is than taking patent medicines! Two tablespoonfuls of ALL-BRAN * daily will usually overcome most types of common constipation. * Chronic cases, with each meal. If seriously ill, see your doctor. ALL- Bran makes no claim to be a “cure- all.” Serve Att-Bran as a cereal, or use in cooking. At all grocers. In the red-and-green package. Defense attorneys then are expected to make new motions for directed verdicts of acquittal, with closing arguments following the | judge's ruling on these. | State Organization Names Bismarck Man} Jamestown, N.
