Beatrice Johnstone, Grand Forks, President of the North Dakota Con- greas of Parents of Teachers, that William McKinley Robinson, chair- man of rural service in the national P. T. A., is to be the chief speaker at the biennial convention of the state group to be held at Fargo Octo- ber 19-20. Mr. Robinson now is in South Africa making a study of rural con- ditions. In the summer of 1929, he made a study of rural education in Austria, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, the benefit. Tickets may be~secured for a nominal cost at the Tavis Music company store. At Curtis Institute, Philadelphia, Pa., Miss Weinstein is known not on- ly as a brilliant pianist but as an out- standing student in other fields, not- ably mathematics and classical languages. She is completing her col- lege entrance work preparatory to en- tering Bryn Mawr. Her academic studies have been accomplished by means of private tutors at the Curtis Institute, thus allowing more time for her musical studies. Josef Hoffman, director of the In- stitute, in a letter concerning Miss ‘Weinstein, says: “I am pleased to be able to state that the reports from our various departments about Jean- nette’s work are, without exception, of the best. “Mr. David Saperton and I consi- der that she is already a very able Player and quite ready for concert work. Any courtesy extended to Miss Weinstein will be appreciated.” Mr. Hoffman. recognized as one of the world’s leading pianists, has been director of the institute since its founding. He himself was a child Denmark, England and France. Dur- ing the summer of 1931 he was in Mexico.
