New Lasky Film for Fox Studded with lovely girls, beautiful) Fevue numbers and _photographic| ‘wonders, “I am Suzanne!” Jesse L.| Lasky's latest Fox Film production| appears on the screen of the Para- mount theater tomorrow. It offered ® perfect setting in which Lilian Har- ‘vey, the internationally famous star, did indeed shine with a greater bril-| liance than ever before, either in! Hollywood or in Europe. The film,| ‘with its background of Parisian night) Aife and the Podrecca Piccoli Marion- jettes, offers Miss Harvey a splendid pportunity to display her versatility. The story of “I Am Suzanne!” con- cerns itself with the love of a young dancer and a young member of a} declining family of puppeteers. The! star leaves the stage to join the pup- Pet show, and all is well until she discovers that the love and praise of her sweetheart is directed toward her ‘puppet rather than to her. She be- comes infuriated, destroys the puppet snd leaves the show to return once more to the stage. The lovers meet ‘again, when they find themselves in the same production. The star's manager, fearing that the dancer's gadness will ruin the show, forces the young man to profess his love for the girl. This confession of love Snspires the star to give a stirring Performance and to achieve unprece- dented success. Gene Raymond, who plays opposite Miss Harvey, gives a performance ‘that is easily his best to date. Morning service 11:30 o'clock. Menoken: Church school 7:00 p. m. The voice is that of the starter heard above the din and clatter of people scurrying—buying tickets, set- tling last-minute affairs, exchanging fond goodbyes. It is a scene from Universal's production, “Cross Coun- try Cruise,” which opens today at the Capitol Theatre, starring Lew Ayres with June Knight, Alice White and Alan Dinehart. From advance reporis, “Cross Coun- try Cruise” offers an answer to the current demand for a new slant in screen fare. The action, said to set a fast pace, richly imbued with comedy and drama, sweeps across the trane- continental highway from New York to San Francisco—embracing the love and hates of at least five people who are thrown together as passengers, Norman, a rich playboy, west-bound to a logging camp, falls in love with Sue, a beautiful mannequin—only to find that she is awaiting Steve, at the terminal, who has promised Sue marriage, although already married and accompanied by his suspicious wife, Nita, En route, Sue learns of Steve's duplicity and accepts the at- tentions of Norman. Meanwhile, May, @ bankrupt chorine, figures in the lives of gentlemen passengers, hoping for a proposal of marriage. How she, about to take the vow, is sadly disil- lusioned, but later shows up with still another man, and, how Norman clears Sue is neatly and vividly revealed. Co-authored by Elmer Harris and Stanley Rauh, the story was directed by Eddie Buzzell. WELL, MR.
