Burleigh | By K. D. STEWART Death of Mrs. Loren Gramling Gladys Sondval was born in the western part fo North Dakota Janu- ary 25, 1908. When she was three months old her parents moved on a homestead in McKinzie county near Watford City, at which place she re- sided until her marriage. She was married to Loren Gram- ling October 15, 1926. To this union two children were born, Ervin Lee, aged 16 months, and Dorothy Ma- tie, six weel moved to Wilton, Mr. Gramling ing employed in the Wilton coal mine, Mrs. Gramling had an attack of influenza which later settled into in- flamatory rheumatism. On Decem- ber 29 she was taken to a Bismarck hospital and it was thought she was recovering when the last of the week she began to fail, passing away at 11 o’clock Sunday morning. Short funeral services were held at the Perry’s undertaking parlors Monday afternoon, Rev. Vater, of the Methodist church officiating, aft- er which the body was shipped to Watford City for burial. Gladys was a member of the Lutheran church. Those left to mourn her death are her husband, two children, her moth- er, three brothers and one sister. Andrew Irvan, Paul Hapel and J. C. Chessak left from Stewartsdale Saturday with several carloads of hogs and cattle which they are ship- ping to St. Paul. Chas. Mallard is reported as being able to be around again after being confined to his home a few days with influenza, Bernice Johnson has returned to her school in Bismarck after spend- ing her vacation with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Hugh McMurrick, of Tilfer township. Funeral services were held at the Glencoe church Tuesday afternoon for William Robinson who passed away at his home near Braddock Sunday. Mrs. John Stewart and Gladys were passengers on the south Soo to Bismarck Friday. They went in to see their sister, Mrs. Loren Gram- ling, who was a patient in the St. Alexius hospital. We forgot to mention last week that Rev. Madison preached a very helpful and comforting service ‘for Mrs. Janet Stewart, who passed away December 29. By BURDELLA B. HELGESON Miss Irene Malsby, Regan teacher, returned Saturday from Great Falls, Mont., where she spent the holidays with her sister. Miss Green, of Linton, spent the week-end as guest of Miss Bessie Wilson. Mr. I. Eide, of Arena, and daugh- ters Bertha, Anna and Edna, were callers at the A. H. Helgeson home on Thursday evening. Miss Edna re- mained as guest of Mrs. Helgeson over the week-end. 0. C. Uhde, F, Uhde and O. B. on were callers in Bismarck last week. A small crowd attended the Legion dance Friday evening due to the se- vere weather. There will bé a dance every Friday evening hereafter un- der the auspices of the Legion. The Legion boys enjoyed an oys- ter stew at their regular meeting in | the cabin on Saturday evening. The meeting was a very successful one in every way. I, Marcovitz and his two sons mo- tored to Mandan on Sunday where the boys remained to attend school. J. D. Wilson motored to Coopers- town on Saturday with his sister, Miss Bessie, and Miss Green both of whom are teachers in the city schools there. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Helgeson mo- tored to Drake on Sunday with Miss Edna Eide, who teaches in the Drake city school. B. Currier returned to Bismarck on Saturday after transacting busi- ness here last week. Miss Helen Rue returned to Regan Saturday after spending the holidays with her parents at Baldwin. Funeral services were held in the Pentecostal Church of Regan for Lit- tle Donny Scott who was fatally burned in Bismarck. Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mra, Carl Scott, who were in the hospital at the time, took cl of the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. W. Scott of Regan are grand- parents of the child. Music was fur- nished by the Regan choir and inter- ment was made in the Regan ceme- tery. Ghy! Saturday evening when the girls re- turned to their parental home they were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. ‘Woods. They had quite a time cross- ing the river. Mr. Woods took the lead. When the ice was not solid enough he broke through in two feet of water. They got across safely and walked as far as the Badger ranch, where Mr. Woods got his feet dry and then they were taken to Dewly Lawler's. M._F, Parker, who traveled with the Watkins products, and taught school here for a number of years and was a candidate for county treasurer in the November election, is spending the winter at his old home in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
