PAGE six BISMARCK HAS G00D ELECTRIC WIRING CODE Demonstration Home Is * Equipped With Separate Power, Lighting Circuits Mayor at 29 (By the Building Editor) Electric wiring standards are higher in Bismarck than in any ¥ er city in the state, according to . K. Skeels of the Skeels Electric Shop, who wired the Bismarck Dem- onstration Home. Pointing out that electricity is one of man’s most faithful and ef- ficient servants but that it is dan- rous when not controlled, Skeel gaid that the best wiring construc- tion is necessary if electricity is to be of full service in the modern home. Appliances and equipment throw a varying load on the wiring system and provision must be made to take care of it. The Demonstration Home has two separate wiring circuits, in line with modern home design. One is the lighting circuit. The other is a power circuit from which can be operated electrical appliances of all kinds, from a washing machine to a radio set. Power plugs are placed in the walls for use in operating vacuum cleaners and similar appli- ances. Bismarck has a good wiring code, based on the national wiring code, but even if it is complied with to the letter a wiring job can be un- satisfactory, Skeels said. The code is designed to make wiring installa- tions safe whereas the spirit of America’s youngest mayor in a city of 100,000 will be Pat L. Robinson, above, who received the Democratic nomination at Little Rock, Ark., the other day, virtually assuring his election. Robinson, not yet 29 years old, defeated the present mayor and two other candidates. No, he is not related to Senator Joe Robinson of Arkansas. the wires are large enough and the second is to see that the materials and workmanship are first cla The cost of wiring a home is so small in proportion to the total in- vested, and the consequences of bad wiring may be so disastrous, that it is poor economy for the householder ; ¢ 1to deprive himself of good wiring or code also requires that they be ef- lof addquate convenience outlets. ficient.
