This information: which may be had by calling on any bank, deals with the manner of oneration of al- leged “Tipster” concerns and a list of such concerns operating is includ- ed with this information. A part of the securities commis- sion’s letter to the banks follows: “These concerns publish what is commonly known as “Tipster Sheets” and the most of them are located in New York, Massachusetts and New Jersey. They are not permitted to operate by the securities commis- sions of the various states and they are also barred from advertising in the bhaadd glarid so that their only means of making contact with the citizens of the various states is through the mails and by the use of the long distance telephone. It ap- pears that their efforts have been quite successful and that they are swindling the citizens of this nation out of a considerable amount of money. Briefly their plan of opera- tion is as follows: Have Trick Service “They obtain a list of prominent citizens or stockholders of some cor- Poration and from this list the citi- zens are invited to subscribe for their “Tipster Service” for a short period, usually thirty days, at the small price of $1.00.
