teases ae 0 Wdiowiy “THURSDAY, OCT. 16, 1919. BISMARGK GORS ‘TOMANDAN FOR BOUTSATURDAY Ancient Rivals Will Mect on Gridiron at Morton County Seat LOCALS HAVE THE EDGE The Bismarck high goes to Mandan tomorrow for its first game with the Morton county seat with high hopes of scoring a victory. These hopes are based upon the fact that while Bis- marck easily trimmed Dickinson high 14 to:0, Dickinson as easily took Man- dan down the line to the tune of 25 to 0, “Divkinson and Bismarck met last’ Saturday on the capital athletic grounds, and, while the Queen City bunch put up a good fight, the game was Bismarck's from the start. Mon- day Dickinson met Mandan at Man- dan. Mandan had some bad luck in tHe form of a broken collarbone which Tavis annexed in'the early part of the battle, but, even without that handi- cap, indications were that the Morton county boys were outclassed. There is, of course, a bare possibil- ‘ity that Mandan is keeping something up. its sleeve for Bismarck. The healthiest but most intense sort of rivalry has existed in» athletics be- tween the twin cities of the Missouri since the‘ béginning of. interscholastic contests. Bismarck would rather beat Mandan than aty other team on the slope, and Mandan returns this senti- nicat with interest. Bismarck this year has the best coach in the history of the local high in Spencer Boise, formerly of the North Dakota Agricultural college, and ‘gn all around athlete who added much to his lore during twenty months in France. He has shown the capital city boys a whole bagful of tricks, none of which they had to use against Dickinson, and all of which are expected to be. new to Mandan. There is, of course, a probability that Mandan did not trot out all of its best ~stunts against Ditkinson. It is these questions which add interest to Satur- day’s game, and which insure a big crowd of fans from the capital city. Special cars will be attached to No. 3, westbound, and to No. 2, returning in the evening, for the benefit of local rootets. One week from Saturday Bismarck} will meet on the local gridiron the doughty Jamestown crew which hand- ed Valley City a 14 to 0 lemon in its opening game. Anogher real exhibi. tion is expected here™at that time. To Ladies Who ) are Stout Fat is Petre ak to health snd beauty.
