FAREWELL SURPRISE Aileen Ekelund was given a fare- well surprise last evening by her Sunday school teacher, Miss Vera Backus, and the members of her class, at the home of Miss Backus. Newsy Notes The evening was spent in games and music. The other members of the class present were Luellg Robideau, Alice Hammond, Bertha Webster, Alice Dyer, Petra Larson and Eloise Dickens. CONCERT MAY 26 A concert will be given in the Congregational church in the Fifth ward, Saturday, May 26. DR. M’'CANN T0 WED The marriage of Dr. Daniel Mc- Cann of this city and Miss Lenore Nehil of Hornell, N. Y., will take place Tuesday of next week, at the bride’'s home. Dr. McCann and bride will return to Bemidji after a two weeks’ honeymoon trip. Dr. McCann is one of the firm of Drs. Gilmore & McCann. PROGRAM A SUCCESS In spite of the light shower in the afternoon yesterday, the program given at the Central school grounds ‘was a success in every way. About $70 was made on the entertainment, which will be used for more play- ground apparatus. The apparatus already on the grounds costs in the neighborhood of $60 and the addi- tional $70 will add many more at- tractions for the little folks. BAPTIST MISSIONARY SOCIETY The regular meeting of the Wo- men’s Missionary society was held at the home of Mrs. H. E. Rice last ‘Wednesday evening. ‘Problems in Missionary Work” were discussed. A social hour was then spent in honor of Mrs. Alvord and Miss Huntosh who are leaving Bemidj shortly. Both were presented with tokens of esteem from the members of the society.
