The election date IS getting pretty close. —Baudetie Region. —— Let’s remember. Senator Haycraft ‘was chairman of the Bull Moose con- vention in Minnesota, wasn’t he? He won’t do for congress in the second district as the votes will tell. —Ano- ka Union. —— Join the Spugs if you would have peace, comfort and a contented mind. The Spug is the ‘Society for thc Pre- vention of Useless Giving.” There is no outcropping of the great frater- nity spirit happier than this, and the society is one that should increase, multiply and people the earth.— ‘Wheelocks Weekly. —_—— Ha, ha. Think of receiving a tele- gram that can be read understanding- 1y the first time. Wouldn’t it be a rare thing? And now there is a possibility—that such may be the case in the future. Representative Curry of California has introduced a bill to require telegraph companies to capitalize and punctuate all tele- grams, under penalty. That will be fine, but there must be a change in some of the telegraph offices.—Still- water Gazette. —_—— " The resolution adopted by the dele- gates at the meeting of the N, M. D. A. in Bemidji, recommending that the present laws be repealed or amended so that prison labor “may legally be employed on public high- ways under proper regulations,” is certaintly worthy of investigation and careful consideration by the results of experiments in states where it has been tried are unanimously fa- vorable, and there is no question but what it can be made both beneficial to the prisoner and profitable for the state.—La Porte News. Practical ) Fashion Hints , Bv Alice Gibson The raglan sleeve is the smart fea- ture of this blouse, Together the sleeves form a yoke across the back, joined in the center with a seam. A plait on each side of the front gives the effect of a vest, but if a contrasting material is desired it may be set in under this plait to form the vest. No. 7715 may be made in silk, flannel or linen. If you have a width of silk ratine left over from a summer cos- tume it will by using this ‘design make a most attractive blouse and will be warm and comfortable as well. The ivory white which was so popular is especially smart for separate blouses. An excellent method for finishing seams instead of binding or French seaming them is to run two lines of machine stitching about 34 of an inch away from the line of stitching that Joins the seam and trim off close to the second stitching. To make this blouse in size 86 it re- quires 2% yards of 36 inch material. The pattern is cut in 6 sizes, 32 to 42. This Is a Perfect Pattern. Be sure to state right size, measuring over the fullest part of the bust for dimensions. It may be obtained by filling out the coupon and inclosing 15 cents in stamps or coin to the Pattern Depart ment of this paper.
