The Bemidji Pioneer’s automobile contest is making quite a stir in that part of the state, a large num- ber of contestants being in the race. —Twin Valley Times. Diran Hagopian, an Armenian, has been admitted to Wellesley college. Being of a race that is used to be persecution he probably can stand the pressure. Al Jester, of Bemidji, who is after the state senatorship nomination from this district, is receiving the support of the majority of the news- papers.—Twin Valley Times. Those persons who are trying to combine the ancient games of poker and whist might as well try to breed a seven shooter and a bow and arrow with the hope of producing something new in meteors. Albert Kaiser, of Bagley, appears to be the strongest candidate for the office of state treasurer, and he will probably go to the convention with the solid support of the northern part of the state—Twin Valley Times. THE VALUE OF THE DREAM. A pillow-dream is a night-adven- ture of your subconscious self. You wonder without volition in a weird world and come back with a tantal- izing and fleeting recollection of fantastic persons and impossi- ble situations. The metaphysical mystery of this sort of dream has never been cleared, but it is certain that the fruits gathered in these sunless excursions are of doubtful flavor and quickly perishable. For- tunately we are capable of dreams which are not pillow-dreams, dreams which are best dreamed when the spine is vertical and every fiber of mind, soul and heart vibrant and vital. On these occasions we are in the clasp of our best mood—the mood of concept and creation. The wine of this mood is red like blood and the resultant intoxication is the holiest experience of which we are capable. In its high hours the soul is never maudin or fuddled; it grips life strongly and deals with it in divine fashion, whipying its fugitive elements into orderly submission, compelling them to assume a useful steadiness like that of the depend- able planets which can be found nightly at a given point in the heavens.—Richard Wightman in the April Metropolitan Magazine. | BY THE WAY | Everybody likes girls provided they are small enough, 3 to 12 years for instance. It requires a good deal of industry to make a man essentially bad. As we don,t know where he came from what is the use worrying about where we are going? Women with missions are almost as bad as men with omissions. FINDS $300 IN HIS FIELD Farmer Recovers Roll of Bills He Lost Two Years Ago. Rochester, Minn,, April 11.—Tim- othy Sheehan, living south of this city, ‘while dragging a field upon his farm discovered something that looked much like money to him and, upon examination, it was found to be $300 in bills. Two years ago Mr. Sheehan, while plowing this same field, lost the bills and a certificate of deposit upon & local bank and the money found by him was the same as lost two years ago, much the worse for age and mould. The bills were sent to Wash- Ington for identification of their de- nomination and it 1s expected Mr. Sheehan will realize a part of his loss. Prominent Russians Near Duel. St. Petersburg, April 11.—A duel be- tween former Premier Count Witte, Wwho represented Russia in the peace negotiations with Japan at Ports- mouth, and General Kuropatkin, for- mer commander-in-chief of the Rug- slan forces in the fleld, has been averted through an explanation by the former. ARE MICROBES IN YOUR SCALP? It Has Been Proved That Microbes Cause Baldness. Professor Unna of Hamburg, Germany, and Dr. Sabourand, the leaving French dermatologist, dis- covered that a microbe causes bald- ness. Their theory has time and again been amply verified throngh research experiments carried on under the observation of eminent scientists. This miscrobe lodees in the Sebur, which is the natural hair oil, and when permitted to flourish it destroys the hair follicles and in time the pores eatirely close, and the scalp gradually takes on a shihy appearance. When this happens there is no hope of the growth of hair being revived. Dandruff is a contagious disease, which is largely due to a destructive microbe, which when left to pursue its course causes itching scalp, falling hair and baldness. Darudruff is caused by the microbe affecting the glands which produce the sebaceous matter, which latter then unnaturally dries up and scales off. We have a remedy which will, we honestly believe, remove dandruff, exterminate the microbe, promote good circulation in the scalp and around the hair roots, tighten and revitalize the hair roots and over- come baldness, so long as there is any life left in the hair roots. We back up this statement with our own personal guarantee that this remedy called Rexall “93” Hair Tonic will be supplied free of all cost to the user if it fails to do as we STARTING MONDAY APRIL 11 make the most of it.
