Mrs. Leet.......ccceveennnns - Two weeks ago and a week ago special offers were announced which were received with so much en- thusiasm and favor by the con- testants that it was decided by the management of the Pioneer to make another offer on an entirely different plan than any before made. The best that has or willbe made during the Pioneer’s Mammoth Con- test.Till Saturday night,April 16th,at 10:30 Double Votes will be issued on all new subscriptions to the Daily and Weekly Pioneer. This is the capping climax of all the offers that have been-made or will be made. Nothing Better Coming. Candidates in this contest should not hold back any subscriptions excepting something better in the vote line, or in any way or other additional prizes, as nothing better will be offered. Now is the best time to turn in every available sub- scription. Don’t wait, for you may wait too Jong. This offer will also afford an opportunity to the present leaders to accumulate a larger reserve. The plan is fair aad square to one and all. and will undoubtedly evoke added interest to the already much talked of contest. Start out after subscrip- tions the first thing Monday morn- ing. You should have very little difficulty in interesting your friends in this proposition” Tell them what you want and ask them to help you with their subscripticos. Make it plain to them that if they are going to help you, now is the time to do it. Explain that you will get double the amount of votes this week that you otherwise would. The Best of All. Bear it in mind contestants that this is the best offer that will be made during this contest. You may think there is something better coming and your friends may tell you that you should hold on to the last week of the contest and you will get more votes for your subscriptions. Now we will give you fair warning: There will be no more votes issued on subscriptions than there are this week., This is positively the best offer of the contest so make the most of your time between now and Satur- day night at 10:30. The Pioneer. Wasn't yesterday just a “peach” of a day! Just as warm and balmy a one as we’ll have any time during the summer to come. It was just the kind of a day, after church was over, to step into your auto and whirl a few miles into the country and enjoy a picnic lunch. Itis such days as yesterday that one breaks the Tenth Commandment time and again by coveting his friends or neighbor’s Auto. There are just seventeen more days of the Pioneer’s contest left and “The Pioneer” the Model 10 Buick Automobile, the Capital Prize of this Contest will be awarded to some lady in the Northland. Are you going to be this lady? If so you want to take advantage of the best offer of the contest. Double Vote week, the best opportunity to pile up your votes that you will have. Catch the Leaders. You who are behind now have your chance to catch the leaders. This week you will get two for one or double votes on every New Sub- scription that you turn in, In other words, the same effort that you put forth two weeks ago to gather subscriptions will bring you double the return this week. trial there The Gity ur Exclusive Perfumes Exclusive Perfumes— Unusual Perfumes— Perfumes that other stores haven't got and can’t get. ANTHONY’S HOSPITAL Tomorrow Every Man, Woman, and Child Can Help Along A Worthy, Charitable Cause by Wearing A St. Anthony Hospital Tag.---Pay What You Want. In the fall of 1899, Rev. Mother Scholestica of the St, Benedict Sisters of Duluth, with two other venerable sisters, came to Bemidji, and with the assistance of Mrs. Mary Gadloise, founded the St. Anthony’s Hospital. This hap- pened in the youthful years of Be- midji, when only one store, a very small -postoffice and six little homes graced our now booming city. As Bemidji grew, so did St. Anthony’s Hospital, The hospital was first located on the second floor of the now Charles Nangle grocery store, where the first winter was spent. In the following spring the Sisters moved to the present location, on Dewey avenue and Lake Boulevard, where they spent their first summer in a little cottage, During the first year of the St. Anthony’s existence, seventy pa- tients were accommodated. Among| these were twenty-one charity patients and one death, In the fall of 1904 Ven. Sr. Benedict came to Bemidji to take charge of St. Anthony’s hospital. Everybody learned to know this venerable sister only to love and venerate her. In her charge and management the hospital has grown too:small to accommodate its patients and many who have seeked.taedical care and nursing have been turned away for want of room. These past winters the hospital has always been overcrowded, not only all the private rooms and wards, but also the halls were filled and crowded with sick and wounded. The. orders of - Sisters of St. Benedict has been a God send to northern Minnesota, We all know how much good they have dome and still do; howoften it isfor one near. and dear to us that these veiled messengers of God are lending a helping hand, or are even staying the cold hand of death, or are g1ving to - the poor, wounded or sick miner and lumberman, every care and at- tention to ease their suffering. During the past year there were 1446 patients accommodated ‘at St. Anthony’s hospital. Of these Bear it in Mind. Don’t get dis- couraged. You are started and the biggest half of the battle is won. Gather up the subscriptions, and get them in.- You will get double votes on them tijl 10:30 o’clock Saturday night, April 16th. ’ $2500 IN PRIZES. Capitol Prize. From thesé - figures we can all readily see that there is still much wanting. Now, after many urgent solicitations on the part of the good people of Bemidji, the Sisters have decided to erect an addition to their hospital, in order to be-able to carry on more efficiently the hospital work which the city of Bemidji requires. Work on the new addition has already been commenced and before the snow of next winter mantles:the roof-tops of our homes the new St. Anthony’s.
