STRANGE PROCEEDURE ON PART OF R. A. STONE. Refuses to ' File Resignation of County Attoraey Loud With the Board. .~ A special meeting of the board of ecounty commissioners will be held Monday. The mostimport- ant business to come before that meeting is the election of a county attorney to succeed H. J. Houd, resigned. But Mr. Loud’s resig- nation reposes in the pocket of R. A. Stone, assistant attorney general and will probably not be presented to the board of county commissioners Monday. Mr. Stone appears to have placed himself in the postion of usurping the perrogative of the governor. He refuses to file the resignation of Mr. Loud thereby trip to Chicago where he made extensive purchases of clothing for Gill Bros. popular clothing house. G. A. Tuller returned to Grand Rapids today after a visit of in- spection to the thriving E. H, Winter & Co., department store in which Mr. Tuller is interested. Gustafson, editor of the Tenstrike Tribune, accompanied by his son, arrived in the city this morning and is spending the day here on business. Much of the hardware stock of E. H. Winter & Co. has been re- moved to the Swedback block and it is expected that the new establishment will be ready for business within the next few days. The space occupied by the stock at the old store will be filled with groceries and crock- ery. The cause of death was Bright’s disease, with which he has suf- fered for'some time past. He leaves a widow and one child.
