It was reported this morning that Alderman Bowser intended to resign asa member of the city council because of the man$ difficulties that have beset the members during their service since March 14 last. Mr. Bow- ser was asked this morning con cerning the affair and stated to the Pioneer that there was no such intention in his mind and that under present conditions he would “stick” to the finish. It is said that there is an effort be- ing made to bring grief to Mr. Bowser in the hope of securing his retirement from the council, but he states that under no cir- cumstance would he resign until 0 T T ERBLBBBOBO B, & AUGTION SALE! $8000 worth of Dry Goods, Shoes, Notions, he has served the term to which he was elected. ) DRIVE STARTS IN TWO WEEKS Twenty-Five Million Feet of Logs to Be Floated Down the Turtle River. The big Turtle River drive of logs, which will this year aggre- gate 25,000,000 feet, will be started in about two weeks, or as soon after that time as possible. The logs were landed by the Blakely & Farley company dur- ing the past winter at camps along the river west and north- west of the village of Farley. It is estimated that 250 men will be employed on the work, and which will be completed about July 1. A large part of the logs will be driven to Cass Lake, where they will be sawed into lumber at the J. Neils company’s mill, while the remainder will be railed from that city to Burlington, Iowa. New Train on Thief River Line. Beginning Monday, April 10, a new train for Thief River Falls, Greenbush and intermediate stations will leave Crookston, daily except Sunday, at 8a. m. via Carman and Tilden Junction, |} Returning, this train will leave| Greenbush at 10 a. m. Mr. Glidden has just finished landing about 60.000 feet of logs at Milligan’s mill and the timber will be sawed into lumber during the summer. John Mogan returned this morning from Mud Lake, where he has spent the winter as pur- chasing agent for the Crookston Lumber company. Mr. Mogan is slated to occupy a position on the Bemidji baseball team during the season just opening, and he will commence training at once.
