N E i great pain, suffering and anxiety, The Daily Pioneer PUBLISHED EVERY AFTERNOON . SUBSCRIPTION .$5 PER YEAR T The ‘Wood Rate. THE towns of this vicinity have taken the proper steps to se- cure a just reduction of the rates on wood and the recent meeting at Blackduck promises to work out a ratg which shall make the wood industry of Beltramiaund [tasca counties far more profit- able to the people of these coun ties and to the railroads at the same time than it has been here- tofore. The present rates are practically prohibitive. The wealth of wood in northern Min- nesota threatens to go to waste because of these rates. The Pioneer believes that if these facts are properly ¢presented to the officials of the Minnesota & International, the Northern Pa- cificand the Great Northerna reasonable rate will be secured. The interest.of the railways in this matter is the same as that of the people of this section. This fact can be demoustrated very clearly to the railways by any- one who is familiar with the situa- tion and once demonstrated there will be no further trouble obout rates. JAPAN asked for seventy-five million and America offered five hundred. It’s upto Russia to think of that. Green gives alert personal attention ‘to his great humanitarian contract. qIna onr Almanac for many years past we ,have given unusual adyice toy thosepfflhc- ted with coughs, colds, throat or hmfi troubles or consumption. We have tol them if they did not receive any special benefit after the use of one 75-cent size bottle of German Syrup, to consult their doctor. . qWe did ot ask them or urge them to use a large number of bottles; as is the case in the advertising of many other remedies. Our confidence in Ger- man Syrup makes it possible for us to give such advice. QWe know by the ex- rience of over 35 years that one 75-cent g:flhnf n Syrup will speedily re- lieve or cure the worst coughs, colds, bronchial or lung troubles—and that, even in bad cases of consumption, one large bottle of German Syrup will work wonders. @New trial bottles, 25¢.; At all druggists.
