NUMBER VOLUME 2 287. COMMISSION FILES REPORT Appraisers in Condemnation Proceedings Have Com- pleted Their Work. The report of the commission ers in the condemnation proceed- ings instituted by the Minneapo hs Red Lake & Manitoba Rail- way company to acquire a right of way through lands between Bemidji and Red Lake was filed at the office of Clerk of Court Rhoda vcstmday afternoon. The report is a lengthy document, over 50 farmers and land owners along the right of way being affected. The awards made are smaller than had" been expected by the farmers whose lands are crossed by the railway, and in ases are acceptable to the citizens of this city who guaran- teed the right of way to the rail- way company. The largest amount pald to one property owners is $1,500, Dr. F. A. l’luk(‘%lf‘e bel o the owner. WOODMEN PLAN PICNIC County Convention Conclud- ed Yesterday Afternoon— Leak Elected Delegate. The Woodmen’s county con- vention was concluded yester- day afternoon and nearly all the delegates returned to their homes last night. M. J. Leak was elected as delegate to the state convention to be held in St. Paul May 1. At the meeting plans were formulated to hold a Woodmen picnic in Bemidji at some time during the coming summer, and the local lodge will make an effort.to make the affair go through., Providing the pic- nic is held, there willbe anat tendance from all parts of the county and alarge number of people will be brought to the city. DELINQUENTS MUST SETTLE Personal Property Tax List Turned Over to Sheriff by County Treasurer. The delinquent personal prop- erty tax list for 1904 was filed with the clerk of court this after- noon by County Treasurer I'rench and turned over to Sheriff Jailey, who will notify the delin- quents and urless the taxes are paid on or before March 31 the property will be seized. The list is considerably smaller than last year, indicating that a better condition of affairs isexistent over the eutire county, Beautiful Decorations. The Berman Emporium holds its formal spring opening to- morrow and the store has been beautifully decorated for the occasion. The decorations are so placed as to display the new spring goods to the best advant- age and the display is possibly the most brilliant ever attempted in Northern Minnesota.
