CITY COUNCIL UP THE STUMP City Water Works Proposi- tion Is Fraught With Seri- ous Complications. One of the hardest problems that have presented themselves to the city council of Bemidji is the water works proposition which at the present time is in a more serious condition than ever Dbefore. After spending thousands of dollars to equip the city with an up-to-date system of waterworks, after all the connec- tions to the new wells had been made, after a pump house had been built and a pump installed, it was found at the last minute that the wells were inadequate to supply the city with water and that some different arrangement would be necessary to furnish enough water for the patrons who now use city water. Just what to do is the question that the council is unable to solve. Experts have been sent for to look the plani over, but as yet nothing has been done and at the present time it looks as if the matter will be laid over until next spring. The water now being pumped into the mains comes from shallow wells and is not fit for drinking purposes. Snow Needed. M. P.
