At the first regular board Hudson River declined 1, Rock Island 34, Fort Wayne 34, Cumberland %. Reading was unchanged. There was an advance of twenty per cent in Pacific Mail scrip, the price rising oight per cent on the call, owing go the consolidation of the Atlantic Mail and Pacifio Mail Steamship Companies. In this negotiation no money has changed hands, but the Pucitic Company are to convey to the trustees of the Atlantic Company one million dollars in full paid up stock, and one million doliars of scrip, with fifty per cent paid up. The dividends on the Adantic portion of the stock will be paid tothe trustees of the latter by the Pacific Company. There will be no conver- sion of the stock of the Atlantic Mait Company, and it will, therefore, continue to be sold separately, four sharos of Atlantic being equal to two of Pacific full stock. 235 was bid for the latter at the board, ‘and Atlantic Mail sold at 150, This arrangement ig not to take effect till the Ist of November. Tho Pacific Company have made a contract for carrying the mails between San Francisco and Honolulu (8. 1), and San Francisco and China for which they are-to receive-im subsidy five hundred thou- sand dollars per annum, and this eastern extension of the fine will take place as goon as the steamers are ready for the service. The Pacific Mail Company have meanwhile ordered an additional twenty-five per cent to be declared Paid to the holders of the four millions of serip issued on the 30th of August last. The scrip transfer books closed to-day, and will reqpen on the 27th inst., on and after wh'ch date new scrip certificates will be delivered upon tho return of the original scrip. Government securities were firm. Coupon five- twontios of the old issue advanced 3. Seyen-thirty notes of the first series sold at 9934, and of the third at 993¢. At the open board at one o'clock he market was steady. At the second reguiar board Erie closed: 3 higher than at the first board, Prairie du Chien 1, Cam- herland 3.
