Evidence obtained when Harry Mager, former Collector of Internal Revenue, and Benjamin M. Mitchell, politician, were arrested will be pre- sented to a Federal Grand Jury. Sensational evidence of wholesale corruption of Prohibition officials has been obtained, agents said. Two Pro- hibition officers are reported to have been on the payroll of certain brewer- ies with salaries of close to $100,000. “Men on every floor of the Federal Building will be implicated,” an agent sald. There are garden par- ties, lawn fetes, card parties, etc, which require formal afternoon frocks, and dances, concerts and cabarets which call for full evening dress. At the popular resorts, some sort of hotel dances takes place at least once a week, while in the city the occasions for donning evening dress May present themselves every night. For summer wear lace is one of the most appropriate of fabrics, for it is 80 cool and dainty and refreshing in ef- fect. It makes adorable eve- ning frocks either in natural white or cream, or dyed in some pretty color. Silk lace dyed in canary yellow, or deli- cate peach, or cool apple green would be effective for the design I am offering here. The lace need not be of that heavy quality which we see so much for afternoon wear, but a delicate patterned sort on net ground work. The type of this frock is that of the slim bodice and full skirt, the distended ‘hip line being featured also. This may be achieved by gathering self color organdy with the first ruffle of lace. Either self color chiffon or thin china silk forms the founda- tion, and over it a foundation skirt of lace drops full length, while the ruffles reach only around the sides. The slim- ness of the bodice is relieved in a pretty manner by shoul- der straps of lace which drop loosely, to be tucked up under the sash. This is of contrast- ing colored silk faille or lus- trous satin ribbon, Bright blue or peach or yellow or green would be pretty.
