MIDDLETOWN, Conn, June 7.— The ninetieth annual commencement exercises of Wesleyan University, June 19, will be of especial interest this year because of the presence of Ex-Senator Cornelius Cole of Los An- geles, Cal., who will celebrate his 100th birthday anniversay before the year Is over. Mr. Cole, who was a Congressman from Californta during the Civil War, has answered the tn- vitation of President William Arnold Shanklin by announcing that he will cross the continent in order to be present at the commencement. He is the sole survivor of the class of 1847 The venerable alumnus was born in 1822, during President Monroe's Ad- ministration, in Lodi, Western New York. In 1817, with twenty-two oth- ers, he was graduated from Wesleyan. He returned to New York State and was admitted to the bar, prowtising in Oswego.
